I just watched the video of the beautiful poem, read by a beautiful soul.
Yesterday, I spent time in a tiny town. Glen Ellen. The home of the writer, Jack London. He only lived forty years. He found his bit of earth here, and took advances for the books he would never finish in order to cultivate the land. This was his credo:
"I would rather be ashes than dust! I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot. I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet. The function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them. I shall use my time!"
On a day like today, where we hear the speech of a great man; and the poetry of a gifted soul; I want to remember that the words exist; have existed, for so many years - through generations. Through the space of time and the space of years, so many share the same hope; for ourselves and for our world. Let the music begin!

Here is the blogger's bio:
Well that's a bummer. Heh heh, your avi reminded me of Adam's tongue sticking out when he sang. Was that the point? LOL! He doesn't do it anymore. Or at least if he does he turns his head so it isn't noticeable. Somebody somewhere must have said something to him. Funny, but I kind of miss that.

It was a beautiful day for the inauguration. I thought Kelly and Beyoncé did a great job on their songs. I'm a fan of them both, and a big fan of James Taylor. I heard an interview with James after the ceremony and he had very nice words to say about the president and said he'd participated in about 40 campaign events and had sung "America the Beautiful" at many of them, so it seemed fitting that he sing it at the inauguration. I loved the president's speech. Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day! I also enjoyed the choir at the ceremony and the little bit of music I heard from the inaugural balls. Barack and Michelle's first dance was an aww moment. Adam started following that Mikky Ekko@mikkyekko whose </a> video he tweeted. The guy collaborated with Rihanna, so who knows... That's interesting. I don't know if it means anything, either. I really liked the song Adam tweeted, listened to the other songs on the YouTube channel, then went to the Facebook page last night to learn more about Mikky Ekko. I read a couple of recent articles posted there: "I'm Wildly Excited About 2013" and "Introducing . . . Mikky Ekko" One of his comments ("where we can find potentially in the future, people like Rihanna or other strong artists to collaborate with and find a way to merge those worlds") made me wonder if he and Adam could be open to working together. It would be a very different direction from rock. Mikky Ekko talked about observing the process around the creation of Rihanna's latest album and how he was inspired by that. I know it's been mentioned before as a factory-like process, but he puts a more positive spin on it. FYE turned out well. I still love that CD. I'm excited to think of what Adam can create again in a prescribed amount of time in a kind of instinctual, free-flowing, high-pressure situation, given all he's learned since then. I think the result could be really explosive. Woohoooo!!!!!!

When I lived in Sonoma, I often took my daughters to Jack London Park for the day. I loved the spirit of the place. We used to hike and dream! Thank you! On another note, lucky, lucky people who are going to the We Are Family Foundation Gala! OMG! It's getting better all the time! I just spent half my life savings at the vet two weeks ago so I'll just hope for good vids!

This is so UN Flipping Believable that this IS going to happen. Adam, Nile and Sam were never even in the studio together and NOW they will share a stage! This is incredible for the entire fandom and for the three of them!!! Thank you UNIVERSE for making this happen.
And for those lucky enough to attend.
