what are the categories for selecting the artists to perform at the innaugural ceremony? I guess they will choose the less controversal ones. If Adam was chosen, he would be politically controversal, merely because he is gay, do you think?

Frank Ocean, NPH & Anderson Cooper and others are also gay and are not (as far as I know) politically controversial. But we've had this conversation so many times before so I'll just say it's also because he's gay AND sexual. |

This is the first time a President mentioned Gun Control, Gay Rights and Pay Equity in a Inaugural Speech. There is usually very little policy in these speeches.
The singers and performers were selected by the Inaugural Committee.
I hope someday Adam gets to perform at one of the Inaugural Balls.
ETA: Richard Blanco (speaking now) is gay.

Kelly Clarkson just sang her heart out at the Inauguration of the US president! Woot! (For those non-US Atop'ers who are wondering where everyone is -- many are probably watching this on TV right now, and it's also a holiday in the USA for lots of people).
