Very nice analysis, cassie. I have always admired the fact that Adam pays attention to the meaning of a song--even one as "automatic" (for lack of a better term) as the Star-Spangled Banner. We've heard it so often that we forget what it's saying. Looking at the flag as a symbol for American values, and the battle as a symbol for all the battles we fight every day--poverty, racism, greed--I think the phrase "our flag was still there" should bring tears of pride to every American eye, especially when one considers that, as you put it, "'PROOF' was what the author was anxiously, breathlessly waiting for that night, afraid that his new country might not be strong enough to withstand the bombardment." Both historically and symbolically, this anthem is uniquely American.

Seriously, this man is gorgeous. It's funny, because when I first joined the fandom I didn't think twice about his physique. Sure, I appreciated his beauty, but I didn't even feel the urge to comment on it. And lately he's taking my breath away! Must be that now I know of the beauty that shines inside him too. Now I can see that inner beauty also reflected on his outside, which emphasizes his gorgeousness.
Okay, I'll stop the sappy words now. lol ILH, that's all.

Sometimes, if I'm having an overwhelming day, photos of Adam out and about, so casual but looking spectacular, can lift my spirits. He and Sauli seem to have such a joy for life...to quote Paula..."It's a beautiful thing!"  |

We're all thinking the same thing today......I saw the pic and thought to myself, "I would just die if someone like him walked past me on the street." Maybe in LA it's an everyday occurance but certainly not in my town -- HA! |
