Re: Aura - hasn't this issue been beaten to death yet? Personally, I don't have a problem with someone producing a product and selling it to make a profit. And if those producing this 'fanzine' had been upfront with their business plan, this could have been a non issue. However, there is obviously a lack of transparency here. But enough of the mud slinging already please. Bottom line now - if you want to buy the damn magazine, fine, if not, fine. It just seems to be deteriorating to a he said/she said cat fight and I think it is starting to reflect badly on the fandom. Enough already. OK, rant over. Have a nice day. PS This is not directed at any discussion posted here, more on the subject in general and the back and forth BS on Twitter/facebook etc.

I have viewed with dismay the reopening of old wounds in the fandom that the Aura thing has occasioned. This is really icky stuff. I have been pretty surprised at some of the strong charges and counter-charges being posted around. I thought I would just remind everyone that people can sue you for defamation if they can prove you damaged their reputation with false information, and you can be sued for libel if you distribute defamatory statements about someone in a public arena -- such as this one. Sometimes I think a lawsuit of this kind is only a matter of time in the Adam fandom. Great article on the subject here: Legal Guide for Bloggers: Online Defamation Law. There are good examples of what is libel or not. Just insulting someone is not libel, but accusing a person of criminal or unethical deeds certainly is, unless you have proof. This is all a huge mess. A huge, ugly mess. I don't know what's going to happen. I do think that some parts of the Aura project sound very shady, but things are escalating in a manner that's a little bit scary. To make things even more complicated, Neil took a stand against Aura and backed one of those online blogs involved with the accusations. I wonder if Adam's management or Adam himself will have to intervene... I try to stay out of this ... even reading about it ... as much as possible, but my 2cents parts of which I have only seen here once before and think needs to be considered: Neil is his own person, not part of Adams management. Neil loves to polarise. Neil has even less filter than Adam. That "stand" you refer to above was a tweet, or am I wrong? Neil likes to be specially tough / procect a certain image on twitter IMO. Conclusion ... choosing Neils opinion (posted on twitter without framework or reference) as a guide is not wise .... nuff said.

Well actually if Xena and juneau want to proceed in concert with Fiasco or Fault (whichever), they have every right to. They may get sued by the origintor of the idea, but it is up to them to make the decision. We have a lot of power...we simply do not buy.

Neil or not Neil, they should be honest about this project from the beginning. They weren't. Too much gray areas IMHO and end of topic for me.

Ok I am officially lost what the hell are people talking about Aura what? Neil? A magazine? Not that I really care LOL so no need to answer. I will say re comments above re libel etc online - it is incredibly hard to prosecute or bring lawsuits against people. I have a friend who's reputation (not just online) has been trashed and his business destroyed and his family threatened by a very determined group with an axe to grind and despite a mountain of evidence and a top law firm acting for him is having trouble making things stick. The law in these areas is unfortunately quite a way behind the reality of people's actions and technology. Hope someone is going to vid the wearefamily performances sounds like it has potential to be quite epic. Any of the TALC girls going?

Exactly - as a fan of Adam, I choose to never buy anything those people put out. To each his own. B-|
