Now I'm upset, and I don't understand anymore what I did wrong - for me it's not story from Bible, it's things I've learned in school when we were talking about interpretations in poetry. To this day I didn't know one person who didn't know meaning behind Tower of Bable and I was only suprised not judgemental (sorry my english is stil rough, I'm not that clear as I want to be sometimes). Talking about jumping to conclusions. So thanks for making me feel like some kind of bad person. nonchallance, I wasn't trying to make you feel upset! Okay, I went back to find this quote from SusieFierce back on page 4 " One I particularly loved was when he said, "Tower of Babel falling down again" was a superficial lyric,....." back at the bottom paragraph. I guess I should have quoted that post instead of yours, but I just couldn't find it at the time, and your post just brought up the "superficial" thing again so I just quoted it.
I know nothing about the Bible, and I did not understand the reference at all either. I was just commenting that it's rather odd for a critic (not a general consumer like us, dare I say?) to assume that something he doesn't understand is superficial, and use it as one of the arguments as to why he doesn't like the song. Also commenting on how if there's something we don't understand, say, in the newspapers, or even in a novel, I don't think our first assumption is that it's superficial or superfluous and we might actually look it up.... but maybe not so in a pop song? Except for the fact that that particular critic was a preacher writing reviews on a Christian Blog and we were never quite sure how that site came to be a Metacritic source or why he bothered to even review Trespassing in the first place except specifically to trash it. To be fair I seem to remember he pretty much trashed any mainstream album he reviewed though but at the very least he would have understood the Tower of Babel reference with no problem.

Sorry, but no way in Hell is Adam watching the Super Bowl! Why aren't the Ninjas trying to figure out where that photo was taken? GET TO WORK, Ninjas!! Just a note on the reviewer that said the "tower of Babel" lyrics were trite. He was a part time preacher (ya, perfect person to pick for reviewing Adam, right?!) so I am sure he knew what they meant! You maybe right (as usually) . She tweeted this 3 hours ago: Kelly Osbourne @MissKellyO Just ran 3miles and now its time to get ready for my #SuperBowl party with @SimonHuck!!! Simon I can wait to see your face! I don't know if Simon Huck is gay, but that's what they speculate on google. Yes, Simon Huck is gay and public about it.

Many of Adam's lyrics are sophisticated and complicated and beautiful. (un)Fortunately, he is counting on finding an audience literate enough to get it. These days, those people are fewer and more far between than ever, and actually get offended at the notion of cultural literacy altogether. Gay, Jewish, and smart ... jeez could Adam be a member of any more stigmatized groups???

It wasn't about your post and I agree with you. I was just suprised that someone don't know about it and then I'm that kind of weird person that need to know everything - if I don't understand or know something I can't calm down - I need to know right now, I can't wait. Yup, I'm sometimes really nuts about it.

Don't feel bad, nonchallance, rihannsu had a very good explanation on p.11 saying the same thing...I, too, am familiar with the reference from literature/poetry... I guess sometimes people just make connections that a poster never intended...tower of babel indeed!
