I am tired of people setting superhuman goals for the Glamberts and then chiding us if we don't meet them. I've been a fan of a lot of teams and music artists over the years and the only things expected were to buy records/tickets, cheer and go "woo," etc. Now I know people who are drifting away from the fandom because they feel like failures. j/s My impression when following the convo on tweets was that the goal setting and expectations were coming from the Glamberts themselves or maybe a few individuals in the fandom and then it was picked up by WAF. I can't remember specific quotes, but saying things that indicated we could go much higher in the amount donated.. I think the $50K by Thursday came first from a fan. And many comments made to WAF and Niles about "they hadn't seen anything yet", etc. kind of thing.. I agree that most of the pressure is self-generated. The friend I was thinking of when I wrote this post took it upon herself to make Adam's singles a hit in her city. She got together as many fans as she could and it was all vote vote vote, request request request. Now she feels like a failure. This is a basically normal person who is an overachiever in the rest of her life and more or less ruined her own fun. I have seen it in others too -- "Come on people! We're letting Adam down!" The sad thing is that I don't think Adam would ever want fans to feel this way. He always asks "Are you having fun??!" |

One of Nile's goals for the card has always beeen to break the record. I think he thought it would be easy with Adam's almost 2 million followers. (I would too!)It is that which he is tweeting about now. Those of you who say you were there & the BD donation was not mentioned, were you there from the beginning of the program, through the welcome & all the speeches? Or just for the auction and concert, when the balcony people were brought in? I certainly wouldn't blame Nile for the ridiculousness that was Montel! Mmhm agree!  In agreement here as well! And I think Pi is right about those expectations coming from the Glamberts themselves or maybe a few individuals in the fandom and then it was picked up by WAF. I could saw a few such posts on Twitter (they tweeted them to Nile) and in my opinion Nile just assumed then it wouldn't be problem to gather about a few thousands signatures.

Someone asked about the people on the dance floor, I do believe they came from the tables, I didn't see anyone leave from the balcony.
Boo to the balcony ( or I would have stampeded the dance floor myself ).
