Adam's choices on AI contestants often surprise me at first. But if you think about ones he has complimented (Fantasia, Crystal Bowersox, Hailey Reinhart, Casey Abrahams, Jessica Sanchez, Jacob Lusk,...who am I forgetting?) they all have one thing in common: they sing big. And by big I don't necessarily mean big as in powerful, but big as in bold, confidently, holding nothing back, daring to be different, erroring on the side of too many riffs vs too few. Obviously that isn't enough, and he requires definite vocal skills (think James Durban, who was the only interesting contestant but lacked skills thus wasn't faved by Adam) and I trust him to know more about that than me. From his audition I think Papa Peaches resembles Adam but in a new generation, more immature, less refined and disciplined way. But the boy was brave, proud, unique, had his own direction, and glowed lightness. At least that's what I saw. I think Randy may have been right on this one. Maybe more time would have helped but I am hoping his singing blows people away enough to keep him around long enough that his flamboyancy gets comfortable, even endearing, for a lot of people. And I love that Adam's tweet to him gave him advice. My hubby really liked his audition. Thought he sounded like someone who could be a Jim Morrison of the Doors. I wasn't impressed but I could see the individuality. However, as we saw as he left the competition tonight, if he's going to stand on his version and not consider other views then he's not going to get far on his own either. I thought of Adam as he walked off. Thankfully Adam was and is willing to Play Ball. Oh the joys of being a non-native(english) speaking glambert .... I love it ... we don't have to read every phrase as it was meant to be understood. I guess I can say I have "selective language skills" ... with very selective hearing and interpretation

My reactions to this make me feel aaaamm ... pervy? And it's just 7am .... what a start to the day But really, he was just a kid then, thanks I can't be arrested for toughts! ETA: Thanks laceyrose! So he was 21 .... I guess I now undestand his comments about how he lived then ... It always was a kind of a contradiction for me when after AI he mentioned his wild days in interviews ... because during/after AI he looked kind of ... domestic ... ? I like WildAdam :-)
