Last summer we noted how Western brands like Starbucks and Buick werequick to jump on the messaging app WeChat as a way of reaching out to Chinese consumers. Now Hollywood celebrities are doing the same, with the likes of Selena Gomez, John Cusack, Maggie Q, Paris Hilton, Adam Lambert, and the Backstreet Boys all signed up to WeChat so as to engage with Chinese fans.WeChat – which has over 300 million users, and is known as Weixin in Chinese – supports verified public accounts, allowing fans to follow in the same way as they can on Twitter or Sina Weibo. But WeChat also has voice and video chats, so these actors, actresses, and singers are sending out voice messages (and maybe videos) to their fans on this platform.

Just a drive by de-lurking...I don't know if it's been answered or not but I saw a few people wondering who JoJo is and...well she is a singer. She had her first hits songs in the early to mid 2000's when she was really young, like 13 or 14 or something crazy like that but she has been off the scene for a while. She had the songs "Too Little Too Late" "Leave Get Out" and "Baby It's You"..they are the only ones I can remember...and if I am not mistaken she has acted in a few movies like RV with Robin Williams and such. I think she had new music that came out recently, trying to make the leap to an adult singing career--I remember Adam praising a new song of hers a while back--and I hope she eventually succeeds because she has a great voice. She had a #1 Pop song when she was 13 -- the youngest person to have a Pop #1 hit according to her wiki page. (I have not verified this claim.) More amazing -- she was offered a record deal when she was 6. Her mom said no because she thought she was too young for a music career. Smart mom. Her music career seems to have suffered a lot because she got into a big dispute with her record label and their inability to get a distribution deal for her record. As far as I can piece together, she got screwed. Adam is very lucky to have a major label deal and not have these issues to deal with. On the good side, |

It's absolutely amazing the publicity this 30 sec snippet has generated. Practically every music blog has tweeted about it and the consensus is that it's incredible!
Does Adam really need a publicist? He seems to be doing a darn good job all by himself! Just kidding about not needing Shosh. of course he does.
But he's seems to get most of his publicity from his tweets! Guy is so smart.
