Today has been so emotional for me.. The dancing this AM for One billion Women, the videos and posts about the horror woman around the world go through.I not only felt for the female sex but also felt for men who can't allow their feminine side out and for gay men like Adam who do let their feminine side show and are mocked for it.We need to Evolve and I believe women hold the key to that evolution. The Poem "I am an Emotional Creature" by Eve Ensler at the end of her talk on the above video.. is so worth hearing.. Happy V day everyone. Melliemom, I'm so glad you danced this morning for One Billion Rising! And thanks for bringing your enthusiasm and videos back to Adamtopia. I'm going to a candle light march and dance and celebration this evening. I'm so excited to go, and have been sending information about the event to all my friends and neighbors. Like you, I also think that empowering women will help empower gay men, feminine men, and even straight men. Straight men have power from traditional roles, but they can gain a more meaningful power by being part of a community of equals, a world of shared rights, responsibilities, and respect. And in the same way the work to empower LGBT men and women empowers us all. I'll be dancing tonight for the end of violence towards women and girls, and for equality and respect for everyone so that we all can one day become our truer, more complete selves, and accept one another for both our differences and our similarities. Also, big Yay! to Mszue, who is going to dance, and Mahalia's son who is going to an event! Oops, rambling on... Aging hippie - does it show?? Hahah peace&love

www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HsGELKLwXM...... Balboa park Adam and Sauli visited a while back..this is the same song danced to around the world.. We danced to this at the YMCA this morning.. it was GREAT Thanks for the One Billion Rising videos we have seen today. So inspiring to hear voices all over the world coming together speaking out against the sexual and violent abuse that 1 out of 3 females will suffer during their lifetime. Their voices will not be silenced any longer.

And, what could be more appropriate and romantic than a pic of the world's most gorgeous and lovesick couple to mark the day?
p.s. Aleks, I did surprise hubby at work with our little Valentine's lunch date, and "your French" was totally worthwhile!!

so empowering.. women uniting around the globe These gatherings really are empowering! I just returned from dancing to tribal rhythms, wearing my Raging Granny hat, with my compadre gaggle of grannies. Later we all shared coffee and our tales of relationships to violence against women. I really love my women friends! Just thought I would share! As Adam would say, my heart is full....and you here all help fill it too....

When he woke me up this morning with this tweet, my not-working-on-all-cylinders brain thought that 'homies' meant homosexuals. I was for a while, why can't he wish a happy Valentine to me, a straight person... I kept pondering about that , on and off, for the unbelievable next 4 hours ( I know!) until , in the middle of work, I realized it might mean something slightly different, lol. I googled it eventually:) ETA// The morals of the story would be that my brain never works on all cylinders, duh:) ETA2// I can't find that poem Juniemoon wrote! I wanted to quote it, it's brilliant:) Oh sweetie! [laughs and hugs at the same time] This is *so* funny b/c the word "homie" is SUCH an American slang phrase, that I never considered how badly it could be misconstrued by someone whose first language isn't English!! The word "homie" makes absolutely no sense unless you know that it comes from the urban phrase "homeboy", which also makes no sense if one isn't familiar with the concept of the urban "hood" (aka neighborhood) from which "boy from my home turf" arises! [grins wryly] Its actually a bit of a gang term that's been assimilated into common usage. Sometimes a common term is utterly nonsensical unless you know the history behind it. [snorts] Not understanding slang expressions is a two-way street though, and it often also makes no sense when foreign phrases are attempted to be turned into English. Being an American, I had to get someone to explain to me the other day what on earth "blaming the Shin-Gimmel" meant in Israeli politics. Its actually kinda funny, in an ironic way. Pretty good explanation here: forward.com/articles/170634/lowliest-guards-on-the-israeli-totem-pole/ May use it myself in the future.

Peeps wondering how to find an event near them where they can go and join the dance for One Billion Rising, but who did not see the posts yesterday or earlier today, can check this website. It has a "find an event near you" section.

This morning I had about 40 "One Billion Rising" facebook notifications as flash mob dancing vids come in from all over the planet. I've watched most of them. I heart girls and women (ok, and guys, too) all over the world who are taking up the cause.
