3 am and finally got thru The Grammy post. What an emotional roller coaster :-/ I think I need to get a little less invested in Adam while he works on his new album - by that I mean, cut the stanning from 3-5 hours a day to something that actually has me getting some work done. I was probably more nervous than Adam before his award was announced and felt positively faint.
Anyway, the Awards show has been covered quite well but, once again, the opinions of the press are all over the place. It's such a matter of taste. The Arcade Fire number did nothing for me and I still can't stand Rihanna's voice (though most reviewers loved her). I smiled thru the entire Mumford set because they were having so much fun - it was like a jam session.
I didn't think Bruno Mars was that awful though he was straining on the high notes - but he does that on his recordings as well. So does Katy Perry for that matter, which is why the song Firework makes me so uncomfortable. What bothers me more about Bruno and Perry are the trite and cliched lyrics. I DON'T WANT anyone to die for me, Bruno - not even in a song.
My thought after the Grammy weekend is that I hope Sony doesn't stint on Adam's promo. I felt at Clive Davis' party that Janelle Monoe was promoted as Sony's shining new star, JHu is everywhere and Adam was kind of overlooked. Why wasn't he asked to perform at the party?
Sony may have pushed for Janelle to perform over Adam at the actual show as well, because she also had only had one nom and didn't win anything.
Whoever Bruno Mars' management is, they are doing a stellar job and as much as Adam's fan base does to promote him and get his songs played, his management needs to step it up in 2011. Some of his songs would be perfect for Glee, how about guest performances on other award or talent shows, maybe some fashion spreads or magazine covers and so on.
