Brings up some questions for me.
What is the deal with the plodding piano line? I thought that the first clip we heard of Adam practicing was filmed too close to the piano and that's why it was so dominate...however, here it is. And, it's in the Rihanna version. I would much rather it be mixed WAY down or dropped even.
When the same sort of piano continues into Underneath I start to wonder. Is Adam making a bit of a statement here? Like, "Yeah, I have a bad ass emotional song too. Here it is. See how they are similar? Rihanna's song is everywhere and mine???? Yeah, not getting the same traction. Think Stay is better?"
I love Adam's version of Stay and I have always adored Underneath.
I don't like projecting thoughts/motives onto Adam; this time it feels very possible though.
