Cassie I was wondering if you could comment on the speechlevel method of singing that was mentioned in a Q & A with Adam yesterday Thanks Sorry, but I am not familiar with this method. My voice teacher didn't use it with me. I think it is very popular today, tho'. I think maybe glampoon knows much more about it. Or maybe Holtz. Yo! Glampoon! Chime in, please. ETA: I did try to explain a bit about the goals and aspects of voice training in general over in the Vocal Masterclass thread, if anyone is interested. atop.proboards.com/post/374060/thread

Yay for everything great happening to Adam and Sauli! I want to know too what that endorsement actually means... And I want to go for a husky sled ride.... Nothing more from me today, I have a splitting headache, I'm squinting at the screen rn and I found this oddly calming. And healing. via adamlambertgifs on tumblr

This is a very popular provincial TV show that can be watched throughout China. They invite some lesser known names to have a face-off imitating the big leagues. Just don't mind his vocal, he did put some solid effort into his presentation, tho...

Controlling, yes! definitely still in certain areas but close-minded? I think that perception was caused by the long-standing closed door policy till the early 80s and impressions of the Old China; lack of communication and understanding will do that. And, your assessment about their general attitude towards Adam was spot on! When people talk about Adam Lambert, those adjectives & phrases are commonly used: music prodigy, heavenly voice, genuine talent, stage presence of a Rock God, handsome, gorgeous, sexy as hell...., oh, and another one of my favorites: "yeah, he's gay and your point is...?" (note: make no mistake there're homophobes in China as well, just like the rest of the world but haters to the right, right?! ) I appreciate your perspective, Maddie. OT, but one thing I have noticed is how Chinese people treat my 85-year-old Dad (and before her death, my Mom) with enormous respect. That too is a very different attitude from how he may often be treated by our culture. Recently, Blake Shelton made headlines for calling older country music fans "old farts" and "jackasses." Somehow I can't imagine that happening in China. I might be all wet, but the attitude you describe about gays with the general attitude in China also reminds me of the older generation here (i.e. my parents and even more so my grandparents). My Dad says that the attitude he was raised with was that a gentleman simply never inquired into what another person did in the bedroom, ever. I would never trade away the gains that resulted from the sexual revolution but there was a cost there as well. I love the Chinese, and I love Junie's Dad! ))) (still squinting...)

I would never trade away the gains that resulted from the sexual revolution but there was a cost there as well. " The existence of homosexuality in China has been well documented since ancient times. According to one study, homosexuality in China was regarded as a normal facet of life in China, prior to the Western impact of 1840 onwards." , and that's very true and explains the general society's attitude towards gays, to a large extent. Nowadays, the freedom of self-expressions (the political freedom of that aspect is still limited) are in full bloom, including sexuality. From what I've seen and heard on Chinese social media and in the real life, sexuality is no longer a private matter as in the olden days, at least not to the younger generation, talk about "letting your freak flag fly"! But, respect and caring for the elderly, is unchanged, I mean that's just the Asian culture in general.

Rift, huh? Well, hopefully it does better in China. There's such a glut of MMO's in the Asian areas as it is, and Rift, well didn't flop, but the hype exceeded it's gameplay. Still, China has super strict laws around MMO's and just about all of them have to be changed specifically to be played there, and have to have dedicated servers. Even if the game lasts for only 6 months or a year, that's a lot of money for Adam. YES AND YES!!
