My gut on the "surrender" comment by Adam was quite non-reactionary -- sort of like, good, he's beginning to understand that he need not micro-manage. He's hired great people and as time passes and his confidence in their decisions builds, it will leave him free to just be his best where it counts the most -- creating. I never thought for a minute that he would be surrendering any part of the creative process or compromising what he thought would work best.

I need help understanding WHY would an original recording artist include a cover on his/hers album given the unfortunate fact of general lack of respect towards covers? Would it be due to lack of time to create their own material? How would such an inclusion benefit the artist or the album? Is this common practice? (I know about SuBo, Andrea Bocelli - these are different animals altogether) An unusual cover was how Willie Nelson finally broke through. Another artist who was severely challenged by industry resistance. The cover was Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain, and Nelson followed it with a whole album of covers (Stardust). This silenced people who said Nelson couldn't sing and accustomed them at last to his jazz-influenced style. Not saying it's a model, just saying it happened and it was great.

One of Celine Dion's biggest hits was a cover of Air Supply's "Power of Love" and there was not that much time between their releases although I do not recall how much......

i dont usually post, but thought will chip in this time. #3 is NOT going to be mainstream. it is going to be AWESOME as adam is. it is going to be brave and fierce and wild and timeless. it is going to be so good that it will be forbidden to be played on radio. it will not fit in any music genre. it will be a genre on its own. it will be so good, that you are going to be seen as COOL if you listen to adam. i trust his sense of integrity. i trust him to makes us all proud. again. VECADAM... YES!!! SO GOOD TO "SEE YOU"

Thank you, Chunkey!! "First of all IDK where this "surrendering" quote came from but Adam has said many times in the past he is a control freak and that he has a tendency to get in his head, analyze too much. He said it multiple times in regards to Trespassing and that he wold tinker with the songs too much, that Pharrell was like DUDE IT'S FINE when he wanted to do like ten more takes. I believe that's one of the reasons Trespassing took so long. Surrendering could mean that he is ready to let the reins loose, to be more spontaneous and see what happens and to get material out quicker. Not to over think and over tinker. Sometimes the best art comes on a whim. To infer that him "surrendering" mean something bad or that he will somehow give up his artistic viewpoint or whatnot is just worry warting imo." Quote : Chunkeymonkey in case that wasn't clear. Bingo.
