4EverAdam ...Boise, Idaho Morrison Center concert - July 19, 2010.
I was there ...a grand night ...my one and only GNT concert. Third row in the orchestra pit --so I stood up the whole concert and Adam was 3-6 feet away most of the night. He really truly did look right at me many times. (At least he made it look/feel like he did.)
I learned that you also need to see a concert from further away to get the whole "feel" for the staging/dancers etc. All I did was stare at him and a bit at the band when they were close to me. I am going to more than one show on Tour 2... for sure. I wanted to remember everything and I didn't. "my eyes were transfixed on him"
I knew you were there 4EverAdam as we connected about seating... same with abitron , but before the show and at intermission no one seemed to be in the seats I thought they would be in. I was sorry to have missed you. 4EverAdam...you led me to this site, when it started up!!! I have never forgotten that gesture!!!
I ran into a great couple at my hotel who lurked on PF. We were surfing PF in the lobby during that very hot day when Adam and the group went river rafting. Everyone got banged up hitting the rocks... Cam even had a wrap on her wrist??/arm??
I am so glad I went to Boise. Up close has it's own story. Adam would finish a song, turn his back in the dark and walk back towards the band. Almost every time he would "drop out of character"...signalling someone on the side line with his head or arms. It was like a light switch... I am "on" now I am "off". When lights are constantly on a singer they stay "natural" throughout, so it was interesting to see his way of moving from song to song.
Adam tweeted he thought the audience in Boise was "sweet". (if I remember correctly) He sang the slow version of WLL and reached for the girl who got the meet and greet, and held her hand while he sang "gonna give you my love". She asked him if he would hold her hand...and he DID!!!! I overheard her conversation with her friends as they right in front of me.
I thought that was pretty sweet of him too!
Hi You reminded me that I did write recap.... and low and behold I did it in a word document. It is below. Feel free to add or not ...just thought I would share it with you.
Boise – Under Control!
Check list GNT concert:
1. _Book flight and hotel, after finding a great ticket in a venue with assigned seating–orchestra pit 3rd row, right behind meet and greet winners! 2. _ Go early–you still won’t be the first to the merchandise table. 3. _Check Merch sales...support Adam! Still a few buying at the end of the concert.(only one person selling with hundreds waiting (luckily...a very pleasant young lady doing her best!)My gunslinger t-shirt is too big, If I was 20 I could rock it with a belt and have it like a mini-dress! Was I the only one with a AL glowstick hanging on my neck? The rest of my treasures will remain treasures. 4. _Check out the amazingly diverse fan base –grandpas to pre-teens. Lots of late teen, early 20’s people. Lots of bling! A 20ish gal rockin’ the huge metal spiky shoulder caps, and boys in “costume”. A lady down from me who told others it is her 18th Adam concert, and she got a meet and greet! 5. _ Put in good ear plugs in for opening acts! Made a huge difference –didn’t want Adam to sound like a chipmunk for this concert. 6. _Show support for Allison ...tiny –beautiful figure –no excess on that girl. Couldn’t understand any of the words to her songs. Orianthi was a little better –could understand some words!!! Like what is the problem here girls?? Good response but tough sell to get people on their feet. Ori’s band members were really engaging ...the drummer in particular cued the fans for standing/ waving etc. 7. _Check out PFers at intermissions. No Pfers in the seats I thought they said they had. But I met an engaging couple at my hotel that drove from Washington to see the concert. Never guess. She lurks on the PF site! And we lurked together for a while on the internet at the hotel. Her husband knows a ton about Adam...good husband! Kindly they offered me a ride to the hotel after the concert. Yeh Lynn and Steve! ...if you are lurking! 8. _No need to remind anyone on the main floor to stand for Adam---but I heard from Lynn and Steve...the balcony had 2 guys trying to stand and everyone yelling at them to sit down!! Come on!! 9. _Adam is up! and so is the decibel volume! Smiling and looking/staring at Adam! I had to force myself to look at band mates and dancers now and again. Those of you who have had this close a view know what I mean. Only chance probably ever to get third row. 10. _Check out Adam. Security let us stand at the stage—but I moved into the 2nd row more a bit right of center. I was mezmorized. He truly has a “beautiful” face. That smile. Heavy eye make-up. He does seem to look right at you! His arms were softly freckled as we know. Body skin so white! There is a “leanness” to his rock star frame. I love his furry forearms. He reached down several times to touch or hold!!! the hands of the adoringly young 18-20ish group in front of me! Oh Adam, no boys in the front rows! Married men, grey hair yes (not your type)! 11. _Heard every word he sang...and he sang beautifully. Could not always hear his banter...which there was very little of. I thought I would be able to hear him “sing” more being so close–but in general the sound truly was from the sound system. I loved it when he put a different inflection into a word or phrase as then you could hear him actually singing the words into the microphone...or he would spit a bit –or you could see the white sticky stretching between his lips when his mouth would get dry. Maybe that’s why he licks his lips!! 12. _When he finishes a song and turns around, or the lights turn down –his persona changes to serious, like ...okay now get ready for the next song, and he will eye check someone on the right side of the stage... and then he changes back to Adam the performer when he turns around. 13. _What to do?? –you want pictures for the memory books, but you lose sight of him while you focus, click etc. Which memories are best? I know why people want to go to more and more concerts as it is hard to take everything in and remember and see it all. Well maybe that is just my brain! 14. _Went to the buses...waited and waited maybe close to an hour...no Adam. People I met were hoping for an autograph –well at least Lynn was, Steve was waiting in the car. No one even got a glimpse. Neil came over and told people he had left. I guess that was the bus that pulled out early. Monte and LP were most gracious to the fans. Yup Monte did try to get on a bus, wrong code –Ori’s bus. I got pictures and had conversations with them at the River Rock concert–so no need to take time from those who had never had the chance! I was ready for an Adam autograph though. A little fleeting Tommy action with fans. 15. _ Have fun at a concert. Sasha commented on twitter about fans singing IIHY by the busses. She sat down on lawn chair by Ori’s bus when the song started. The 2 boys right behind me (definitely dressed for Adam) initiated the singing and the small groups around us joined in. BUT not everyone out there joined in!! Sheesh! What do you have to do to liven things up!! Funny how one part of the song was muffly as most fans did not know the words for a line or 2. 16. _Check out pictures. Showed then to Lynn. Reviewed the pictures as I sat in the airport. 17. _No lies! Husband wondered what I was up to –my voice is a wreck !! I took my ear plugs outwhen it came to Adam's time to sing. I cheered with the best of them, and plugged my ears with my fingers while doing so. Guess I didn’t know just how hard I was yelling. I wanted Boise to get WLL and Mad World. When WLL stated to play I knew we weren’t going to get Mad World! The show was liberating but not over the top sexually. He did what I like best –he sang, he entertained and he hit some crazy notes!
Satisfaction? It was like Christmas dinner –hours of preparation and all over in an hour! But oh so satisfying! Well, partially satisfying. I see now why the comment about the length of the show. It is over in a blink...and you just want more. More Adam! The only way now, for me, for more Adam, is the PF site! Yeh for PF!
Wow! A year since the Boise show. My one time only home town show. Front row balcony with my husband. The lady and her husband on my left had driven down from Montana, her sister in Seattle had told her about his operatic voice on Soaked. Shared my glow sticks with her. The younger women on our right were members of Adam Official. One was filming so I thought video might appear but it never has, I didn’t take my big camera as they were supposed to have a pretty strict camera policy. I have the entire concert recorded on my mp3 player, a bit muddled in spots but much richer sound than the one Janus put up. I really need to send it to someone who can clean it up.
I might be responsible for their mishaps on the river as I did tweet Sasha about it since they had been doing local stuff everywhere they had a bit of a layover. Had drinks with a couple from work before the show. Her hubby liked WWFM radio version and had been getting teased a bit at his work for coming to the show. They know I keep up on him and asked over the 4th if anything was coming up so I filled them in. I remember a lady I overheard in the bathroom who was telling everyone she was so excited that he would be going straight to Vegas! Yep, pre-Adam I thought that was the big time too. Maybe I’ll have to get brave and organize a listening party or something for the new album.
Not many in the balcony stood up. Not that they weren’t enjoying, just they could see so well already. At the end Adam’s hand went up to thank those of us up in the balcony. I swear I was not in control of my hand as it shot up in the air in acknowledgement. I did feel a bit sorry for those of you down in the orchestra pit. I wouldn’t have been able to act interested in Orinathi and Allison. I love that they were there but I can’t understand either of their songs.
