I had my family over for Easter and took them out for dinner (cheating). Of course my Trespassing CD came on as soon as I started the car, but I turned it down so we could talk. My granddaughter, 5, bellowed to turn it back up because Cuckoo was playing and sang along at the top of her lungs. After the song ended she proceeded to tell me about her friends at pre-school talking about who wanted to marry Adam and who wanted to marry Justin Bieber. She informed me that there were more takers for Adam ! She also told me that she has been telling her mom that she is "just dying" to see Adam in concert and WHEN are we going to be able to see him. That's my baby! Clearly your granddaughter and her friends have great taste. Just curious: Does she sing all the lyrics of "Cuckoo"? Including the f-word? Or does she do a "Pretty Little Liars" version of it? She skips the word. When Trespassing first came out my granddaughter wanted to hear it. I explained that a couple of songs had "big people" words on them that she was not allowed to repeat. Hand on hip she replied, "oh, swear words." Side eye at my daughter!

Oh, can I just say how skeevy I find Justin Bieber love among the freaking NURSERY SCHOOL/KINDERGARTEN set??!!
It just makes me cringe.
[snorts] My kid's Adam love doesn't bug me nearly as much because, like Adele, she loves the person for their music and not because "he's going to be my BOYFRIEND!" We're talking 4-to-6 year olds here. [shudders]

Speaking of preparing for concerts, for anyone who plans to record a concert using an iPhone, there is an add on microphone from Tascam that will record very good distortion free audio with the video on an iPhone or iPad. It comes in 2 different versions which differ in how the 2 microphones are configured, i.e., the direction in which they are pointing Tascam iM2 (older version), $30 in US Amazon 2 microphones in A-B configuration which picks up stereo sound including surrounding ambient sounds Tascam iM2X (newer version), $80 in US Amazon 2 microphone in X-Y configuraton which picks up stereo sound in a more focused direction, i.e., more stage & less ambient sound Review of iM2: www.gadgetreview.com/2011/11/tascam-im2.html

Got the "When I grow up I'm gonna marry Daddy" a batch of times (sorry kid, he's taken), but she hasn't tried marrying her classmates....yet. Too busy pupa-ting into her latest butterfly. #whobetterstartflitteringbacktobedRIGHTNOW

[gives brightly innocent "No-Mom-I-NEVER-swear-in-front-of-the-kids-nah-nah-nope" look] #busted Classic story around our house: My brother was about 5 years old when, following a drive out with my dad where they had been cut off almost causing an accident, my brother told my mother that he had heard some bad words. My mother calmly asked what he had heard and my brother said, "Stupid f**king jack ass", to which my mother calmly replied that yes indeed those were bad words and left it right there. Classic

I attended Summerthing in Golden Gate Park in SF last summer. When I arrived in the park at 8AM there were approximately 25 people already there and they had arrived at 5:30 AM. Everyone had brought beach chairs and blankets and staked out their claim close to the stage. Everyone was friendly and would save your space if you needed to use the restroom or get some food. The first musical act took the stage at 12:00 and the climate in the crowd changed immediately. There was a big push forward and many interlopers trying to press in from the sides. I stayed in the same spot (2nd row) for the next 3.5 hours until Adam came on. When Adam came on there was another surge forward and a pressing in from the sides and some arguments broke out with the interlopers. It was well worth the waiting time to see Adam that day. He was so loose and happy considering that he had just flown in from his rehearsal week with Queen and had to be back in London the next day. My advice in the crowd is to make friends with those around you and to band together to repell the interlopers. Be prepared to not use the bathroom for up to 4 hours.

When my brother (older than me by 6 years) was in first or second grade, he came home from school one day using some colorful language. My mother calmly asked him what he thought the words meant, and why he was using them. He replied with the typical "all the other kids are doing it" and she simply asked him if they jumped off a cliff would he do that too? From that point on he was never a "follower".
