I hope that Adam is not accepting these gaycentric gigs in place of more mainstream events - such as Idol. Adam needs mainstream acceptance and awareness/visibility for his career as well as gay support. I don't want to see him focusing exclusively on the gay aspect at the expense of mainstream opportunities.

Really, apart from Carrie Underwood, nobody does Idol every year. Not Daughtry, not Kelly, nobody. Either they are on to promote new stuff, or they are on because they have nothing else going on and need the exposure. Strategically, Adam does not NEED this appearance, and he certainly doesn't need to go back on AI to sing a cover. The AI audience isn't going to see him and then suddenly rush out to look for Trespassing, at least not in significant enough numbers.

But, he is tapping a great market with these Pride things. These concerts are incredibly smart, for a lot of reasons.

To add, I have no doubt Adam could appear on AI if he wanted to. No doubt. I think this was a good decision by his team.

eta---at some point, the whole AI thing would start to look desperate, and Adam is not in that position at all.
