The parade had a record number of participants, with 73 float entries and 1500 people walking with their organizations from 5th to 15th Street, according to festival spokesperson Richard Murray. "It really is an amazing cross section of the community," Murray said. "There are people from every walk of life here - gay, straight, black, white, green, orange." While Miami Beach Police have not given an official attendance estimate, Murray said the number most likely surpasses the 80,000 expected.
Miami Beach mayor Matti Herrera Bower served as the parade's grand marshal, riding at the head of the procession in a vintage Rolls Royce convertible, Murray said. She was accompanied by congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Singer Adam Lambert, who is receiving the key to the city from Bower, will perform at the festival's main stage Sunday night at 8 p.m.
