Because the folks left at 19 are not too sharp and they seem unwilling to take any risk. In their simple-minded logic -- the ratings dropped after JLo left so bring her back and the ratings will go up.

In reality the numbers of views plummeted in AI9. IMHO the viewer loss was because it was BORING!! And the show has never recovered because it has just become more boring. (Of course that is the season that FOX picked the new judge -- Ellen.)

I think that Adam was smart to say he wants to be an Idol judge at the Finale. If he had not said it, he would not be on the list. He is not a major star (and I mean the level of Adam Levine or Mariah or JLo). His only way to be considered is with fan and press support. And he is getting it.

We watch everything he does but most other people do not.

There have been several press reports on this speculation cycle saying it would be a good choice. I do not recall seeing anything negative except from the "usual suspects". In fact my take on the major Idol blogs/forums, is that the idea of Adam as an Idol judges has more acceptance now than it did last year.

I loved that he gave an enthusiastic, straight forward and honest answer to the Idol judge questions. So refreshing compared to the coy responses we are used to hearing from celebs in situations like this.
