WHile waiting for Saturday...yes I'm sooooooooo excited
BUT
I went up to NY yesterday to see the Broadway show "KINKY BOOTS!
Nica1575..... I LOVED IT. You could hear in the songs that Cyndi Lauper wrote, her signature style. In fact, the 1/2 of the two stars of the show, Charlie falls for one of the factory worker and her voice was so uncanny similar to Cyndi's. Adam could have played "Charlie" the owner of the shoe factory. He would have blown away the audience in two of the songs but in all fairness , the lead had a decent voice but his acting skills were great
THe drag queens or dubbed "ANGELS" in the show had fantastic bodies and the OUTFITS were insane. LOVED, LOVED LOVED IT>
the other 1/2 star of the show Lola (Billy Porter) had a decent voice and acting was also great.
I recommend this to everyone...of the last 6 Broadway SHows I have seen, this surpassed them all. It's right up there w Phantom, Wicked, Mis, etc....
Again, I can't get over how good the score was.
LASTLY, the finale, the kinky boots were crazy elaborate, etc but while the cast was giving their final curtain calls, out comes HARVEY FIERSTEIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He wrote the book and for those of you who don't recognize the name, he's a rather large man w a really raspy, throaty voice. A 'biggy' in the theatre world.
Well, he had a hugh annoucement to make, He was being honored in NY. He noted that Kinky Boots was up for 13 TOny nominations, we all cheered. He had sat in the back and listened to the audiences reaction and told us we were the best crowd to date for this show. He applauded us. You could tell he was 'pleased a punch'. I would be too. Well, his "honor' was that a HOT DOG was being named after him in his honor. Hot dog to be named HARVEY WEINER!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol He then invited us all to the 45th & Broadway and the 1st 200 customers would recieved his new Harvey Weiner free!!!! LOL but that the cast would also be there to mingle. How nice. My co-worker and I didn't go since it was after 5 and I had a long drive home and I still wanted to get autographs and chat, etc.
SO , after the show, I scooted over to the stage door because I want to see the cast. I managed to get all signatures of the entire cast. and "Lola" talked to me for a while. He is so nice. Yet in peson, he's not as large. Just funny
MORE...........CYNDI LAUPER comes charging out the door. She seemed in a tizzy, crazy pink/purple hair. Managed to get her pic but no auto.
well, back to work, but I highly recommend this musical. I've also head that "Matilda" is also excellent and in competition w Kinky Boots for Tony's nominations.
back to work

It does not include the Fan Club ticket sales because I do not see my state & I am going. So at least 31 states!
