Juniemoon has written an interesting piece about Rudolph Valentino, Elvis, and Adam in the Moon Garden. She looks at how all of them have had women swooning but men--uncomfortable or worse. Check it out. Junie, I hope you don't mind. I think it is worth a read. adamtopia.com/post/402027 Hugs for both, Junie for writing this essay and Holst for posting it here! It's a beautiful thing. I love the title, 'Son of Sheik', I love the analogies and I have to say, Junie, I had no idea, about neither Valentino nor Elvis... It is shocking, really, I was surprised. Valentino's question, "Doctor, am I a pink puff?" choked me up, I wondered if Adam's "Lusus Naturae" tattoo means that he already knows the answer to that question or if he is still asking the Universe if he is the one. Thank you so much for writing this! Moon Garden is a lovely place:) Why is your essay on page 1, where are the rest of them? There were around 90 or so the last time I checked:) Oh, and as much as I find Moon Garden beautiful, this essay belongs here, on the main thread, because it is current and on topic, what with the Elvis photo shoot and the Ali Baba performance:))) Imho.

Thanks, sweetie! The Moon Garden looks normal to me ... the recent essay is on page 91? I prefer to post these types of things in the Moon Garden because the main thread moves so fast that "deep thoughts" (LOL) like the ones you post often just get lost in the onrush of events; also the main thread often is a point-counterpoint thing and that is not my scene. Glad you liked it!

Three and a half years ago Adam was practically a pariah. Banned from TV for his "obscene" AMA performance. Slammed by the editor of a gay magazine for trying to neutralize his gayness. Criticized by other gay folks as being too flamboyant and hurting their work towards equal rights by alienating people. Some people who liked him on Idol shied away from buying his album because of the "feminine" cover.
Fast forward and Adam is now getting accolades and awards from not only LGBT organizations, but also the cities of Miami, LA and Philly. He is arguably the best known openly gay artist in the US... perhaps the world. He is getting high praise not only for his voice, but for his fierce fashion sense, his beauty, his successful charity campaigns, his wit, and his charm. He's come a long way from fearing that pictures of him kissing a guy would get him voted off American Idol before he got a chance to show the country what he could do as an artist. From worrying what he would do for a job if he got cut from Idol after quitting his paying gig in Wicked for the second time.
Today, it just boggles my mind, and I can't help but wonder if Adam feels a bit the same way.
