Happy anniversary! Exactly 10 years ago today, my province became the first in Canada to legally recognize same sex marriage. Many other provinces soon followed. (And In 2005 the Supreme Court of Canada legalized same sex marriage all across the country through the Civil Marriage Act.)
My CHR morning radio dJ’s noted this, this morning…but I haven’t seen any actual online news, so no media links to share. Silver lining, maybe we’re so used to this that such an anniversary is no big deal?? Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough.
There was a very interesting article in my local paper this weekend about the ins and outs of parental rights for same sex couples, particularly those who have chosen to have children though donors or surrogate. That’s still a lot of work to do there, but we’ll get there.
