This article is a mess. It mentions a few things, but does not separate the topics in any reasonable way. 1) Homosexuality does not cause pedophilia. Suppression of homosexuality, on the other hand, IS correlated to pedophilia. When natural sexuality is suppressed, via self-loathing, secrecy, mis-understanding, inability to find healthy ways to sexually interact, and many other destructive elements at play, sexual acts are turned inwards to the organization that exists outside of public control, and that is first and foremost the family, and there, usually the weakest link are the children. It can similarly be found in all substitute organizations where adults are entrusted with children or other weak members of society (the sick, the disabled, the enprisoned, etc), ie. sects, church organizations, asylums, wards, sports organizations, etc.). In societies, where female sexual assault is downplayed by either machismo and/or blaming of the victim, it is easy to isolate the sexual assault on boys and primarily see it as a gay act, rather than as the sexual assault first. Hence, the wrong perception about those topics. The situation in Russia will lead to more pedophilia, not less, but in shame and fear, people will under-report and therefore it will seemingly be a non-issue. 2) Oppressive and omnipotent state system can function as quasi churches or church substitutes. Therefore countries that are less religious can still show heavy correlation with homophobia, even if there is no primarily religious reason for that. Russian politics have been invasive on a private level for centuries and the orthodox church in Russia has centuries of history of being the ceremonial arm of government, endorsing the political pressures with religious affirmation and turning the other way when they should question behavior and thinking instead. Russians are for the most part not religious on a personal level, but they live in a society where indoctrination has quasi-religious character and goes mostly unquestioned. This is deja vu all over again. I feel terrible and helpless watching this all unfold. 3) Extreme conservatism and communism/socialism are bed fellows, not opposites. The same nonsense that certain politicians in Tennessee and pastors in North Carolina spew, can be heard from extreme KGB guys in Russia. Let's lock them all up, lets suppress everything, etc. In neither case, does their opinion represent the thinking of all the people they represent, but depending how the wind blows, their power may be sufficient to cause lots of harm. When do we finally see all extremists in one corner versus the moderates in the other, rather than trying to pin extremes against each other and allowing them to tear the moderate middle to pieces in the process? ==== The main thing, I don't understand right now, is why there is not much more protest about this here in the US? Where are the news media with their reporting on all this? It is awfully quiet. I signed the allout.com campaign ages ago, but it cannot rest there. I think a first step would be to protest against this under-reporting of events, both with our media as well as with national organizations that should be speaking up for gay causes. If the people of Russia cannot do the talking, we need to do it for them. I agree.,We here in the states and around the world should not be silent . Yesterday I wrote about the HBO documentary on Pussy Riot.. worth a look. Not about gay rights ,but about freedom of speech in Russia.

I did check out Brian's twitter bio - nothing about Adam (then again, I have no idea if it EVER said anything). Grain of salt. ...although, it is weird that nobody has even hinted about rehearsal for Pittsburgh Pride.

Perhaps it's a money issue - bringing the band would be very expensive, so they would use local musicians and backing tracks.

Adam Lambert Help @adamlamberthelp 2h Adam Lambert Says Sales Take A Back Seat To Being Authentic - On Top magazine www.ontopmag.com/article.aspx?id=15525&MediaType=1&Category=22#.Ubnt3lKs7Rw.twitter … Singer Adam Lambert says he's happy to be out because he doesn't want to have any regrets in 20 years. Lambert will headline Pride in the Street Festival, which takes place Saturday in downtown Pittsburgh. Speaking to NewsRadio 1020 KDKA, Lambert was asked whether his gay rights activism puts his career at “risk.” “Do you view it as a risk? Do you view it as something you have to do?” host Joe DeStio asked. “In some cases, there are parts of it that might work against me,” Lambert answered. “I figure in 15 years from now, 20 years from now, I don't want to look back with any regrets. You know, I want to do what I want to do. And ultimately that integrity is the thing that I think is more important than the immediate like sales or, you know, measurable success.” “And I also feel like, you know, between you and I, it's kind of a little bit fun to kind of rile people up,” he added with a laugh.

Perhaps it's a money issue - bringing the band would be very expensive, so they would use local musicians and backing tracks. I was at Miami Pride with DH . Adam's two dancers were there and backing tracks were used.. Funny how many fans have said ,in the past, That Adam ,by himself on stage, is all that is needed ,wanted and appreciated LOL I agree with evergreen, I doubt whether he can afford to bring his singers and his band. There is an opening act. It's fantastic that Adam is doing this..IMHO, It's a gay pride benefit, not part of a concert tour.. I wonder if Adam makes any money on this other than maybe his travel expenses & hotel???Anybody know??
