Even though it is a small county whose two largest cities, Paso Robles ans San Luis Obispo have only about 50 k each, its fair decided several years ago to bring in big acts to try to draw in the big valley towns like Fresno and Bakers field, as well as the coastal areas like Santa Barbara and Monterey. Kelly Clarkson and Lady Antebellum played the fair and Justin Bieber sold it out a couple of years ago. I think every teenage girl in the area went. I think I remember about 15k went to that one. It is a big venue, and my read is that country music is very popular in this very rural, but somewhat upscale county. Here is a link to all the acts. Looks like Adam won't be the only AI alum. www.midstatefair.com/entertainment.phpThanks so much. Makes me feel much better. That initial description sounded so desolate. If they had the money to pay Kelly, Bieber etc., sounds like he will get very well paid and be widening his audience! (Hoping for good attendance) I love Paso Robles. Great wineries. Husband an I have gone there several times. Some very nice restaurants, art galleries, Definitely has small town western vibe, however.

TALCvids @talcvidsAdam Lambert performing at CA Mid State Fair Paso Robles on July 19. Very helpful local info thx to (cont) tl.gd/n_1rkt5mp Adam Lambert performing at CA Mid State Fair Paso Robles on July 19. Very helpful local info thx to @outlandogirl: FYI, Paso Robles is right in the middle of LA and SF. 4 hours either way by car. Middle of nowhere. Closest tiny airport is San Luis Obispo The Paso fair is a seated (not GA) venue. It's an outdoor dirt rodeo grounds with folding chairs. It's pretty big. It won't sell out. Paso fair is a country fair. Lots of FFA animals and cowboy hats. It will be VERY hot during the day and cool down at night. This area is not heavily populated and the majority like country or classic rock concerts. If this sells well, it will be Glambert travelers Ask me about hotels nears the fair if you need to PasoThere are very few taxis in the entire area. We are NOT metropolitan. At all. The beach is about 30 mins away. The WARM beach is 50 mins Vallitix dot com is the ticket provider for the Paso fair. The stage is very long and moderately tall. Matchbox 20 plays there the 21st. Many thanks for the great information, @outlandogirl!! Help me out here guys. I am happy Adam is performing and making money but somewhere my heart is breaking that he is playing in country fair venues in the middle of nowhere. Feel differently about the Del Mar fair because it is home and San Diego is not in the middle of nowhere. Do I need to go to the dark side? No, no, no! This fair is halfway between LA and SF. For Cali drivers, that is nothing. This fair is known for its entertainment! Check their schedule, they have good people booked. They always do. Daughtry has played it twice. "Country Fair" sounds deceiving. IT IS HUGE!!!!!!!!

Country acts are the biggest draw in my area too even though we are a metropolitan area population-wise. The Allentown Fair books various musical acts but Country is the big draw. :-[ Keisha & Pitbull are booked and I'm curious how tickets are selling. Not curious enough to check though LOL.
I just hope he draws well there given his low profile compared to previous years. GNT sold out (6500) at Musikfest in my area but that's a step up in sophistication from a country fair.
Oh I just see myspenser clarified the fair info. That sounds a lot better!

adamrocks... I sort of agree, coming off Pgh Pride is one thing, but county fairs do not do it for me, but this is a way for the band to make some cash so perhaps that feeds into it, and it is in CA so less travel for all of them. I wish Adam could hook up with a bigger name (interesting K Clarkson and Maroon 5, I guess these groups need to combine forces to sell out larger stadiums). I've never been even close to any fair, county or not, so I have no clue as to the"prestige" associated with these events... However, this particular event is somewhat bothersome to me for these reasons: 1) it is announced only 30 days in advance 2) the ticket prices are rather low as compared to other similar acts, which were all announced much earlier...(like in Feb) www.midstatefair.com/news.php3) the venue is humongous, looks like a stadium size space (you can see the pictures of views from different sections if you click on a the camera icon in the ticket purchasing map), so selling a respectable %age will be tough (obviously one needs to have Bieb's talent to do so ) but, hope it sells, and the $$$$ are good and many peeps here can travel and enjoy yet another concert! and may be, just may be - we will get more than a 60 mins set!

I would say the ticket sales are lower because it is a Friday night and they want to sell a lot! And, since this date has been a TBA for the past few months, they may have been negotiating for Adam all along. Friday night is a PRIMO booking!! There is nothing negative about this booking. Nothing!
