I have a like(kind of)/hate relationship with twitter. The cray in me wants to make sure I don't miss any morsel of Adam news. I am working on that. :-/
And I try to make it a policy of mine to not comment about individuals publicly but I will say that one of the main reasons I've never fully embraced twitter is the attitude by some that they can tell others what to do or not to do. We all have OPINIONS and I have no problem with disagreeing with opinions but don't tell others how to feel or what to think.

I'm on #TeamShutUpJoan. Yes, she can be funny at times, but a straight person joking about a gay man being a woman is just lame. I love Rachel Maddow's show, and one night last week she remarked about how she gets letters from people who disagree with her politics and in virtually every one, they call her a man, which, she said sarcastically, "just never stops being funny." (She's a lesbian, for those who don't know.) I've seen too many of those "that guy looks like a girl!" comments following online articles about Adam, and it's just not amusing. It's cheap, lazy, dated, and most of all inaccurate to say or imply that Adam is feminine. And if he were feminine in his demeanor (which is fine to be if that's who you are), it would be even cheaper and lazier and more dated to make a joke about it! What exactly is the point? I liked the Perez interview very much, and every time I hear Adam talk about what he wants for his next album, I get more excited. The voice being front-and-center, and the songs being more personal and emotionally honest, is such a win for me. I love FYE, but the next album sounds as if it will be even more amazing. I also like that Adam isn't clinging to the glam look. Don't get me wrong--I love me some glam. But I don't want to see him turn into Michael Jackson, who, once he glommed on to the Sequined Soldier look with the epaulets and the sashes, never let go of it. I used to have a beautiful poster of Michael in a yellow sweater and white pants, and I always thought a Great Gatsby look would be amazing on him. Instead he just stayed with those stupid faux-military costumes. I think Adam is already realizing that he doesn't want to be pigeonholed into a persona that will get tiresome and look increasingly ridiculous as he gets older. MURLY! Quoted the whole damn thing cause I love the whole damn thing. You are spot on about Joan--there's a point at which not personally being a homophobe is no excuse for making homophobic comments. Doesn't make you innocent, just makes you stupid. As for your response to the Perez interview, I'm going to hold onto that to help me through my *issues*. Because, to be completely honest, part of me is having a little bit of a hard time accepting some of the vision for Adam 2. Thing is, I LOVE Camp Adam. His happy campiness is one of the things that draws me to him most--I love the lightheartedness and humor it brings to his performances. I love the way the campiness is part and parcel of his not taking the pop industry too seriously. In a way, CAMP is what Gaga is missing. Camp is part of what makes Adam's schtick so much more appealing to me than hers (there are many other differences of course, and I also like Gaga). I loved the album cover--I thought it was hilarious, precisely because it looked like a teen glamour shot taken at the mall, and because Adam loved it with the same happy escapist enthusiasm that teens love the ridiculous products of those shoots. Also, Perez, who the hell are you to criticize over-the-top-camp when you're dressed like a gay trellis (TM Chunkey). I also love the campiness of Adam's performances because they are an open expression of his gayness, and I love that he resists the simpler PC "straight-acting" presentation in favor of this very charming campy one. His "gayness" is, IMO, a big part of his charm and his humor. So I shed a (not so silent) tear in memory of the FYE campiness , and hope that it will make its more measured appearance in Adam 2, as he seemed to suggest towards the end of the interview. Also, if those long legs aren't a-slinking and those hips-aren't a-swayin' to some bad-ass dance tunes on his next tour, I will mutiny (quietly, briefly, and with love). However, certainly I love hearing Adam be so introspective, and seeing him think about how over-production can sometimes muffle rather than promote him. I'd love to hear the voice as un-messed with as possible. And Murly, your points about MJ struck me as being very true, and made me think about all this in a different light. Adam is never a caricature--he's more natural than that--and that is one of his great strengths. He has plenty enough charisma and charm and absurdity in his real life personality not to have to hide behind so elaborate, and so obviously false, a persona. So thanks for the pep-talk, however inadvertant it may have been.

Let the cray embrace you and hold you to it's heaving bosom. You know you want to. Everyone is doing it. Speaking of Idol. They will never find another Adam. They may be lucky to find another artist who is unique to themselves--and I hope they do--but they shouldn't try for another Adam. I think that's what they wanted last year with Siobhan Magnus (and my ears never fully recovered), or what I called her--The Hell Demon--and this year with Mr. Limp Mowhawk VonCriestoomuch...James whateverhislastnameis. And I wanted to like him because he has Tourette's and I do too and like, solidarity and shit....and then they piled on the sob stories and he SUNG and oh no...no. noooooooo! I just think Idol is slowly decaying. I can't wait for XFactor though! It could be epically bad or epically good but either way, with everything they can do, it's gonna be something at least. Kinda sucks that Adam doesn't have a single out to bring to Idol this season and perform WITH LASERS!!

From the Perez interview, I think that coming off of Idol he was feeling "I'm going to glue rhinestones to my eyes, bitch!" and did exactly that. The campiness and OTT was what he wanted at that time. I think he got a wonderful thrill that he was accepted that way (especially after the AMA scare.) He apparently is in a different place now and wants EVERYONE (not just us) to know that he can sang. I loved everything about FYE and especially GNT. But I keep in mind that when he tours next time, he's sure to do some songs from FYE in his show, and we should get to see the glam again. Also, I don't believe you can take all the glitter out of the boy. After all, he still hasn't flown yet.

So the point is that it was NOT Randy who talked about Adam.He HAD TO after Ellen mentioned his name. So TRUE, Gelly! I still don't understand why Idol judges (except for Paula), most of his fellow AI contestants, and other artists don't give Adam the support he deserves. Adam's shown his generous nature giving a shout out to Katy Perry's Grammy performance sorry..I thought her vocals weren't very good) ' but I don't believe after the AMA performance she said anything of support for Adam. I know she wore the cape with Adam's name across the back during her performance on AI but he could really have used the 'verbal' support after a lot of the media came down hard on him after the AMAs. Well...I'm just happy Adam truly loves giving shout outs to other artist he enjoys. It's refreshing to see in the sometimes cut throat competitve music in dustry. Sorry...I didn't mean to ramble on so!
