music.msn.com/music/article.aspx?news=817794#scpshrtuAdam Lambert splits from record labelJuly 13, 2013, 12:17 PM EST WENN Adam Lambert has walked away from his record label after executives pushed him towards recording an album of 1980s cover songs. The singer, who shot to fame on "American Idol," has parted ways with RCA after releasing two albums through the label, and he has now revealed a disagreement over this third project prompted him to end his contract. Lambert insists he did not want to record a covers album and says the split came down to "the oft-cited 'creative differences.'" In an open letter to The Hollywood Reporter, he writes, "I've had an amazing few years working with the team at RCA; I admire all of them a great deal. ... That said, at this point, we are indeed having the oft-cited 'creative differences' as to what my next project will be. ... The label is pushing for an ['80s] covers album, and feels that this is the only kind of release they are prepared to support. While there are lots of great songs from that decade, my heart is simply not in doing a covers album."Lambert insists he is already writing songs for his new release and hopes to share it with fans soon. He adds, "I am already deep into writing new material with some very talented colleagues for a brand new album, and I can't tell you how excited I am to share this new sound & direction. This music is where my heart is, and I believe that is what my fans want to hear. ... I am excited to find a new label team who shares this vision."

www.rollingstone.com/music/news/adam-lambert-leaves-rca-over-creative-differences-20130713Adam Lambert Leaves RCA Over 'Creative Differences'Singer says label was pushing for an Eighties cover album By Miriam Coleman July 13, 2013 4:21 PM ET Adam Lambert is leaving record label RCA over creative differences regarding the direction of his next album. In a letter to The Hollywood Reporter, Lambert explained that he decided to make the break after being asked by the label to record an album of covers."The label is 'pushing for an (Eighties) covers album,' and feels that this is the only kind of release they are prepared to support," the American Idol Season Eight finalist said in the letter. "While there are lots of great songs from that decade, my heart is simply not in doing a covers album." Lambert went on to praise RCA, who released his 2009 debut album, For Your Entertainment, as well as 2012's Trespassing, a live collection and several EPs. "Over the past four years, I have been truly fortunate to work with an amazing roster of producers, writers and engineers," he said. "Thanks to them, I have grown as both a songwriter and a vocalist. Artistically and professionally, I think it is essential that I continue with this evolution." In contrast to the covers idea, Lambert said that he is "already deep into" writing new material for his next album. "I can't tell you how excited I am to share this new sound and direction," he wrote. "This music is where my heart is, and I believe that is what my fans want to hear. So after careful consideration, I have made the decision to respectfully part ways with RCA." Lambert also just signed on to join the cast of Glee for the show's fifth season. I'm thinking about the letter Adam sent to Shirley. For Shirley to put his letter on the article, she got to get approval from Adam, to make it an open letter. About the letter.. the wordings were very professional, humble and thankful. With those kind of nice wordings, there's no way for RCA to come back and said bad things about Adam.. they will look like a jerk (which they probably are.. LOL). But if ever RCA to respond to any question any journalist ask for the THR article.. they will say good and nice things about Adam.

I only recall one clear "bridge burning" and that was with this guitar player he used to have. >:D

To those in the know - what effect will Adam leaving RCA have on his dealings in Asia? It appears that Sony worked closely with the fans - what now? Is anything else in place at this time to replace that connection? Did Sony or DMG work with the promoters in that region?

They guy said that Adam's very loyal, which we know he is. But I think the guy really has crossed the line and taking advantage of Adam's loyalty that Adam cannot tolerate it anymore.

Lots of you saying he for sure has an other deal lined up. I am surprised how I am 100 % at peace with the idea that he may not. A week ago I would have guessed having no record deal was the worst thing that could happen but now I know having less than %100 Adam would be far worse.
There is no way to describe this man that does him justice.

Is anything else in place at this time to replace that connection? Did Sony or DMG work with the promoters in that region? LOL.. I am not one of them (obviously) , but having learned from Q3 all these years... ;)I would like to take a jab at it. I'm not so sure if Sony worked closely with fans in Asia .. if ever there's one it always comes for fans. So Adam fans in Asia/NZ/Australia can always work with the rep of his new label. In regards to the CD promotions and distributions, it depends on the new label he signs on and the distribution company the new label has or work with. For his next album promotion, I'm pretty sure DMG will be working with the new label and they want to be in the loop of anything and everything and wants to make sure that Adam will get the promotion he should gets. If you're talking about his concerts in Asia (around the world)? I think this will be between his booking agent, DMG and concert organizers in Asia or around the world. Off course Adam should know everything, you know how control freak he is..
