Glee is a given, Possible Idol Judge, and he has mentioned (as we intrpret it) is making new music.
THEN when will he release a new single and then the CD????????? When would he have time to promote it.???? It seems he will be torn into all different directions.
Regarding the idol judges...when do the new appointed judges actually start appearing at the judges seats to qualify the protential contestants?
How would he be able to schedule all this????????????
DIdn't he say, "Keep your eye on the prize" therefore, I would think giving up the idol gig would go. but then again I thinks he's thinking he needs the exposure, etc for this new CD

Why? It would be brilliant. Instead of a waste of a radio tour where he would sing in front of 50 already fans, he is performing either as judge (that is assuming that we are guessing correctly, here) and/or in his Glee role in front of millions. Similar time and effort on his part, but no comparison in impact.
He would still visit a few radio stations, as all recording artists do if they make radio relevant music, but it would be very selected.
If Idol comes through for him, he has a window in end September/early October and then a second one for Hollywood Week in November to get through, but otherwise, Idol does not start being demanding major time from him until March and the schedule is totally pre-determined and so Glee can work around it.
And where-ever I read that they do not work around the scheduling needs of artists, haha, of course they do?
Maybe not for the regulars, who have no other career but Glee, maybe they are expected to be available to the show whenever they are called. But Adam comes as a star and while that creates cross-promotion and media benefits for everyone, of course that means that they cannot tell him to come taping while idol is on, duh. Not sure anymore whether that was written here or on MJ, may have been over there, come think of it. LOL
Now, the delay in Glee may not be ideal for Adam, who probably wanted something for the fall and now worst case may have to wait for spring. But if they shoot end of July to show it mid September (that was the original schedule, pre-Cory-situation), then it would be logical to assume that they shoot in February, whatever they want to broadcast in April.
And clearly Adam needs to finish the album now in fall and cannot delay endlessly like with Trespassing. Because he will want to use the promotional opportunities from TV shows, and now this summer and fall is when he has the time to work on it. That is assuming he does not have a few other secrets that we do not know about yet.
And I like that old antlers (RCA), = new antlers will grow now that the moon is waning - timeline. We'll see. Perhaps idol does something similar to what Project Runway did with Tim Gunn. Give Adam a kind of intermediary role between mentoring and also judging.
I would love to hear more about the artists and the behind the scenes stuff and see more about the work developing a song towards the actual performance.
