I just watched the film Velvet Goldmine. Has anyone else here seen the movie? A lot of correlation in presentation between the movie and GNT. Anyone know how old Adam was when he first saw the movie?

Eli posted a photo on instagram wearing this same outfit with the caption "Going out." The photo was dated 2 days ago and this was taken last night. Maybe he was just trying it on and checking it out. I would bring the photo over if I was not so stupid.

I've watched it a few times and definitely see a correlation. Adam had a chance to take all those influences and mix them with his own experiences and I think they are evident in GNT. The Rolling Stone picture with the soda def came right out of Velvet Goldmine. It was released in the US in Nov of 1998. eta: Niles Rodgers is on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon tonight.

Well if he saw it when it first came out, no wonder it made such an impression on him. Young man with dreams it must have influenced him on many levels.

I've seen it, didn't think it was a very good movie, although visually I liked it. I can see in retrospect why Adam would like it so much.

Not the least of which is that it was based on David Bowie and Iggy Pop.

My Favorite Scene || by Seth Abramovitch || 07 17 2009 11:20 AM EXCLUSIVE: The American Idols Share Their Favorite Movie Scenes With Movieline
ADAM LAMBERT
"One of my favorite movies of all time is Velvet Goldmine, by Todd Haynes, and the scene that comes to mind is when Ewan McGregor's character is first introduced and he's a singer, a rock star, and the camera comes in on him -- he's on stage -- and he gets naked, pours beer all over himself, then glitter on top of that. He shakes the glitter can around his crotch like he was jerking off onto the audience and then lights the foot of the stage on fire. And to me, that just sums up everything that a rock star should be. It's like a fantasy sequence. That movie is absolutely brilliant -- and a little underrated in my opinion, too. I was about 22 when I first saw it, and I was just like, whoa. It's a movie loosely based on a Ziggy Stardust-type character and an Iggy Pop-type character. It doesn't specifically name them but they're clearly modeled after those two rock stars, and it's just cool. It's a love letter to the glam scene."

I hope this means Adam is getting some free stuff! He is a walking advertisement for good taste. Even when its leather and spikes he makes them look good. I love clothes and have departed from my usual thanks to him! Knee high boots, nail earrings and my new handbag is crocheted leather strips and chains! Love it.
