And it is so fitting to dedicate it to Gale.

I can't seem to find what you're referring to.
It is a reference to my post -- part of a response to the Avicii Official News tweet:
AVICII NEWS OFFICIAL @avicii_News_
AVICII NEWS: All those Adam Lambert Fan's, Don't give your hopes up! There could be a Third single! Or you will just have to wait a month!

My post was about poor marketing communication -- which the above Tweet represents. And yes, things like this do cause relationship damage -- in this case, between Adam fans and Avicii. Not a big deal, not to start a boycott, not a problem for all or most fans, but truly these kind of inept communications are cumulative.
Fans have relationships with both the celebrity and with other advocates. It is actually a complex set of relationships that have been intensely studied.
Queen, Dr. Bri and Rodger have done a great job of building relationships with Adam fans and treating them with respect. In exchange, many Adam fans support them.
Nile is brilliant at expanding his virtual footprint by engaging with fans of other artists including Adam's fans.
The real AVICII marketing effort has leveraged Adam fans/press interest to drive buzz for his upcoming new album. Adam benefits from this by being exposed to AVICII fans in an association with AVICII. This is how reputations are built, online and "off line". And as long as it is respectful and mutually beneficial, it is extremely effective.
A really good example of leveraging a fan relationship to drive traffic and buzz to promote something else is Idol's annual judges speculation PR rumors. They have done with this since Season 9 when Simon's departure was eminent. At first it was beneficial to Idol, but over time, the fans need to get something or they will start to become apathetic -- or even negative. Most people and the press are pretty much at the apathetic stage.
The AVICII tweet was bad because it was not respectful and promised something that was clearly not going to happen. It also used a phase "those Adam fans" -- setting up an us and them separation.
Since this account poses as "official", if you didn't pay attention, you would think this was an official news account. Most people do not stop long enough to analyze this things. I didn't look until today.

Is this tweet a big deal. No, not really. But to a marketing professional, it is like an off key note must be to Cassie.
Finally, it is such a missed opportunity -- Adam fans have high interest in the fate of LMD -- this interest should not be squandered.
And it is so fitting to dedicate it to Gale.

Really, "relationship damage"? I don't have that reaction at all. I do not see anything bad about this tweet.
I can't seem to find what you're referring to.
