crazyforadam.. did you mean between Aug and Oct 2012? Tsp wasn't out yet in 2011? Nope, 2011. Adam was done with the album around Oct 2011. In Dec 2011 we got BTIKM as single during Xmas week. The handover to marketing must have been in October 2011 or so. In August 2011 Adam was granted the extension, once he had changed direction (Pharrell cooperation), but in parallel RCA overall transitioned its management and by October the new people were firmly in place. BTIKM was slatted to be the lead single and was not a late addition. NCOE was a late addition and caused the second release delay. The RCA Management change did not effect anything about Trespassing except the promotional budget. Peter Edge was consumed with the reorganization for the later half of 2011 (announced in October 2011 -- www.billboard.com/biz/articles/news/1164387/rcas-peter-edge-tom-corson-on-the-shuttering-of-jive-j-and-arista ) In the Billboard interview, there first was some true stuff.... Tom Corson: "We've learned to work with less and hopefully accomplish the same or more, but by definition, the business has shrunk - the staffing has shrunk, our rosters are smaller. But we're still profitable." Then some BS.... Peter Edge "Doug (Morris) is intent on making A&R the focus of RCA and the new focus of Sony Music. The big initiative here is to spend more money on artist development, making more records and making better records and less on all of the other stuff. I happen to agree with him." By other stuff, the mean promotion, particularly for radio. But the are not making more records and there is no evidence they are making better records. The RCA Records players: CEO Peter Edge, President/COO Tom Corson Sony Music Entertainment: Chairman and CEO of Sony Music Entertainment Doug Morris. 1995 to 2011 he was Chairman and CEO of the Universal Music Group. Prior to 1995 he was CEO and Chairman of Warner Music US. |
