VIDEO: Adam Lambert & Nile Rodgers Unveil New Track 'Lay Me Down'

The legendary Nile Rodgers-- musician, producer, composer, arranger, guitarist and founder of Chic-served as curator for a benefit Dance Party like no other in the history of the East End of Long Island on behalf of AFTEE* on August 19, 2013.

At the event, Avicii, Adam Lambert and Rodgers teamed up on stage to unveil their new track 'Lay Me Down' as well as perform the numbers 'Shady' and 'Let's Dance'. Check out the appearance below!

Vocal superstar, #1 Billboard album chartist, Grammy nominee, actor and LGBT role-model & activist Adam Lambert has been captivating audiences with stunning vocals and a commanding stage presence since first appearing on American Idol in 2009. Adam performed 'Let's Dance' as part of a David Bowie medley on the American Idol tour at the end of the season. After his successful 2009 debut album, 'For Your Entertainment' & sold out 2010 global tour, Adam received a 2011 Grammy nomination for "Best Pop Male Performance" for his hit 'Whataya Want From Me'. He returned to the studio to create and executive produce his second studio album 'Trespassing' (purchase details below) which upon its release in 2012 debuted at #1. It includes a funky dance track entitled 'Shady' featuring Nile Rodgers, which was Adam's first collaboration with this musical legend.

Nile Rodgers has influenced popular music for decades, playing an integral role in the music of an incredible array of artists including Diana Ross, Madonna, and David Bowie (Nile co-produced his1983 'Let's Dance' album). An artist in his own right, he co-founded the R&B/Funk /Disco band Chic in 1977. Nile released his autobiography entitled "Le Freak" which details much of his life and impressive contribution to the music world and Chic has recently released an album 'Up All Night (The Greatest Hits)'. Something BIZARRE happened in Long Island last night. Adam Lambert, disco forefather Nile Rodgers and Swedish house millionaire Avicii took to the stage together to unveil their brand new track, Lay Me Down.

The performance at Rodgers' All For The East End charity event, which was put on to raise awareness of the work carried out by various volunteering organisations working in the area, marked the first time the trio had unveiled their collaboration.

Lambert also joined Rodgers on stage for a very sultry performance of Let's Dance.

"So happy to be a part of such a great cause! Thanks @nilerodgers for havin me, and great to finally meet @adamlambert," Avicii tweeted after the event. We're guessing they weren't in the same room when they recorded this one, then.

Lambert added: "Wow! Had an amazing time performing alongside @nilerodgers, Chic and heard our new tune spun loud by @avicii "LAY ME DOWN"!"

Rodgers later replied to both, saying: "I love you dudes like brothers."

Glad he cleared that up.

Adam Lambert, Avicii Play Nile Rodgers’ Fundraiser: Watch Lambert & Rodgers Cover David Bowie

Adam Lambert made a special appearance at disco funk extraordinaire Nile Rodgers‘ All For The East End (AFTEE) fundraiser last night (August 19) in Long Island, NY. The pop star joined Rodgers on stage to perform a handful of his own tunes, including “Trespassing,” “Shady” and “Whataya Want From Me,” as well as the David Bowie classic “Let’s Dance” which was originally co-produced by Rodgers.

Things heated up when Avicii took the stage to spin “Lay Me Down,” his collaboration with Rodgers and Lambert off his upcoming album #TRUE. The Swedish DJ/producer has been playing the track all across Europe over the past month, but last night “Lay Me Down” got its US debut. Unfortunately, Rodgers and Lambert didn’t perform the track live on stage, but the videos uploaded to YouTube have given us the clearest audio of “Lay Me Down” yet. Check it out below.

Thanks for reporting some positive feedback! I almost always avoid reading comments on that site and a few others (like Yahoo) because 1. I feel sad at some of the Adam bashing and 2. I am filled with second hand embarrassment from the female "defenders" that go way overboard in my opinion with bragging about Adam and his accomplishments. I wish Adam fans would not "invade" comments sections of sites if they are not, in fact, regular readers of that particular site. Sigh, but many feel differently.

That is nice news. It made me peak and see who posted about sparkle cows -- and, not surprisingly, it was Rocker Rocker -- a troll using one of his many names. (Poses as a 55 year old gay man but may not be a man, may not be gay.)

I wanted to comment on Mike Posner since I saw you mention him the other day: he has a song with Sammy Adams (a rapper I think) that is a good song and its being played pretty frequently on Sirius Hits 1, although this song is not mentioned at all on Posner's website. Before I read about him here, I thought they were getting ready to re-launch him because of this song, but that other Posner song that is supposedly his single is just WRONG for him IMO. it sounds like something perfect for Gavin Degraw, but not suited for Mike Posner, who I thought was promising as an edgier pop singer until now, damn RCA :(
