If they are true, I think now is the time to show Gaga fans our more open and inclusive side. And if they aren't true...this is still a great opportunity to gain some new ferocious Glamberts. If Glamberts get all superior and smug about Adam's amazing vocals we will only turn off a huge number of young fans who are much better onside but if we comment on the similarities between Adam and Gaga...fearlessness, inclusiveness, talent, chutzpah, fashion guts, there are lots of things...by finding commonalities and ways that Gaga is like Adam [not Adam like Gaga] we can do some real good for Adam here......just saying....

eta....if we just keep on criticizing and beating on Gaga [like all the media has been doing lately] all we do is alienate that 40m and make us look mean at best and butt hurt at least. Adam would be over the moon if we really won a pile of her fans over with honey!! And Glamberts would look like the best fans in the universe.....lol...as we no doubt are

I'm not thinking of disappointment at all, its a brilliant idea, actually, and if that second news about Judas is true, then they are sure going for controversy with Adam's role. I don't even care so much about i-tunes. This will be the talk at water coolers, more like ROF was, and it will be talked about in ways that Gaga did not experience, when she brought this song out.

First of all back to Applause: It's is a very theatrical song, that Gaga tbh sang in a rather boring way (no dynamics, no arch, no variation). It has tons of room to grow, which Adam sure will know how to use for himself, and therefore it provides opportunity.

I thought that Gaga did alright with the video, it had that very artsy, European flair and I thought that was well done and did not deserve all the down-talking it got. But the song itself was less impressive and so self-absorbed, that she just built on that negative perception that many have of Gaga anyhow. Getting that song into the hands of somebody who plays the bad guy, though, turns up the level of interest immediately. Also, I echo what others said. It is good that Adam covers new songs, not older material.

Now with Judas, if that is true, Glee is pushing quite a few possible topics, depending which one they want to go after. I could see a ton of directions here, but it will get that song the attention, if Adam covers it. Here is the lyrics video:

Gaga was hoping to create a scandal with the catholic church ala Madonna with that song, and got from Rome for the most part a big yawn, even though the Catholic League here in the US quacked around a bit. But even that was more half-hearted, and they usually are quite happy to condemn anything and everything in pop music.

With Adam covering the song, you get immediately lyrics that are male to male, and therefore brings an angle and an interest into the song that the original version did not have. Furthermore, the song talks about being torn between loving the side that is drawn to the bad or rejecting it. Not a foreign topic for Adam. And then there are so many word plays and other neat little things that can happen with the repetitive portions of the song. Do you think that Adam is going to sing Juda ass, Judas as Judas, as Judas....and so forth, in many different variations, just to get folks talking? I would not be surprised. Is he going to focus on the homo-erotic aspects or will he not do so? Obviously, that will depend on the character he plays, but one thing is for sure, Glee is not letting Adam just play something boring. They want to get tongues wagging about Glee.

This is going to be good! (Assuming it is true, of course). And they are probably going to wait for the reaction they are getting before fully deciding how far they will take that character. With that I mean, they probably will have an initial sequence of shows in the can with him, but depending on whether folks love it or hate it, and also depending on whether Adam's storyline fits well with others and does not dominate or derail the show, then they will continue. Otherwise, they will write his character out of the storyline and the party is over.

Finally, I totally agree that Glamberts should try to avoid the typical 'Adam sings better than Gaga' warfare with the Little Monsters. But I doubt that those ueber-fans are going to listen to anyone. I also am not sure whether Adam fans are prepared for the virotrol that typically comes from playing the bad guy.
Lol, we shall see.


ETA: just saw that Adam tweeted, while I wrote those musings of mine. Well, that sounds to me like at least some of the rumors have something to them, at least that is what I read into them. Maybe, they are half true. Maybe Applause is true, and Judas is not, because that would take it too far. Who knows. As he says, we need to wait and see.
