Didn't Glee chicken out on having Frank N. Furter played by a guy when they did Rocky Horror? Can't see Glee drag happening in that case but what do I know if he does do it it will be glorious and the hills will sing

I get debates over what impact would result from Adam playing a drag queen or wearing drag on television - there are good pts made on both sides. But regarding ~shrinking his fanbase -- imho any fan who would stop being a fan for that reason falls under squarely good riddance. I would tend to think the purpose of Glee was to expand his fanbase, rather than just cater to his existing fanbase. I for one think the drag is not a good move. Parents watch this show with their kids. I don't want TV's being clicked off and a round of negative press. things having been going so well for him. I have to trust a bitch and as Adam said, the rumor mill is rampant and we just have to wait and see. Personally I think MJ has a personal ulterior motive, and it is not good. So who and where is this good source, she supposedly has. She might be trying to fuel a fire, and not be happy with Adam being on Glee, so a bad rumor would definitely fuel a fire.

I tend to agree that MJ is a negative force. My initial reaction to drag queen was 'oh no, here we go' and Adam's love of being contrary, hitting folks square 'in the face'. But then I also recall early on him saying that he turned down SNL skits that were more like mockeries of being gay. So I trust that he will do whatever he thinks is best. and let the roller coaster continue!

No one knows what this role is or how it will play out! Do any of you honestly think Adam or DMG is going to do anything to jeopardize his career??!!!! I have trust in Adam and his management!! I am intriqued by the mere fact that it could be true and wondering how it will be a twist! Because I know it will! How do I know? Because I have followed this man for 4 years and he is smart! And innovative! And knows what he wants!

"I for one think the drag is not a good move. Parents watch this show with their kids. I don't want TV's being clicked off and a round of negative press. things having been going so well for him. " Glee already has a full blown homosexual romance, several lesbian romances, and a transgender character who is physically male but who presents himself as a (utterly lovely) girl. I think a guy in drag is pretty tame for glee. Anyone scared off by such things has already stopped watching glee. (I think I got the details right about unique, the transgender character. But I've only seen a couple of episodes with that character and could be totally wrong.) You are right about the Unique character. Don't forget about bisexual Brittany.

Guys, stop the panic!
Adam is playing the nemesis to Kurt, right? If he were a drag queen for his whole role on Glee, he obviously could not be that to Kurt. So, if the drag rumor is true, then this is just a character within the character that Adam artificially climbs into and the transition is part of the overall role. Or it is a surprise, in disguise, kind of thing. In any case, I don't think there needs to be too much worry about Adam's overall image.
For all those people out there in the US, who cannot handle any kind of male-female role playing, Adam used to say: 'They need to go listen to some other artist'. It's that simple.
I also firmly believe that the main reason Queen was not understood with IWTBF, is not the fact that Freddie (and the others) were doing drag, but rather that the whole thing was not understood. Americans do not know Coronation Street, they also do not understand the references that mock the typical 50s-60s London council house, starting with the living room/entrance, the wall paper, the stairs, the toaster, the newspapers/magazines, the nightgowns, the whole set-up is very comical, and the drag part adds more to the ridiculousness of it all, rather than making a specific drag statement.
It requires the lyrics to merge the story-lines of wanting to be free from an oppressive London council house reality to wanting to be free in a wider reaching sexual sense. All this did not make sense to the US, because the references were not understood, not because everyone in the US was homophobic. Homophobia was and is alive and well in UK too, I used to live in the UK in the 80s, believe me, I know.
Sure, things have since then changed, but they have also stayed the same. We are right now almost over-aware of all things gay. Every limp wrist shake is interpreted as a gay sign, and there is hardly a male performer or politician where you cannot read some comment, that supposedly he must be gay.
Will there be people who mis-read his character or who don't get it? Sure. But those are not people who would ever understand or enjoy Adam, who constantly mixes things up, all FYE, as we well know.

Listen... if Adam really does a couple of drag scenes, people are gonna be likeAND his drag self will be so drop-dead gorgeous that all the Gleek guys are gonna get boners and start faintingand then just to fuck with everyone's minds the drag scene will be immediately followed byAnd then everyone will all be like WTF WTF!!! And all genders in the viewing audience will be like
And the sale of popcorn will skyrocket on Thursday nightsAnd advertisers will be throwing their money at GleeAnd Adam will be the BIGGEST NAME AROUND EVERY WATER COOLER IN THE WORLD and he'll earn mys*&@^#r's kind of dollar signs and dancing cats and buy even more awesome outfits and dance off into the sunset with AT LEAST two million Gleeks following him on twitter into eternity and snapping up every piece of music he ever puts out.TRUST ME. THIS IS GONNA HAPPEN.

Nile Rodgers @nilerodgers 16mbit.ly/1g5MBM7 @davidbowiereal @adamlambert @duranduran @qtiptheabstract @girardperregaux #CHIC #DianaRoss Take a list at Nile's playlist at the bottom (he's doing a charity, save the earth type event, as part of his We are Family organization). Nile seems quite convinced that Adam has a destiny. Glamberts owe Sam Sparro big time.

Can't see Glee drag happening in that case but what do I know if he does do it it will be glorious and the hills will sing Exactly. Amber Riley AKA Mercedes played Dr. Frank-N-Furter, played by Tim Curry in the feature film. If they did not have the guts to have a guy, play the Transvestite from Transylvania -- then I doubt that they will do anything really shocking. *** I suspect that IF Adam is in drag, it is part of a stage performance -- not his offstage character. ETA: And a big ditto to what seoulmate and Mys*&@^#r50 posted.
