jen @boicantspell 4m "Grammy nods predicted on this one (LMD)." ‘True’: Avicii’s Genre-Defying Album [Beatdrop Review] www.beatdrop.com/2013/09/18/true-aviciis-genre-defying-album-beatdrop-review/ … via @beatdropcom Lay Me Down Legendary producer and guitarist, Nile Rogers, who has produced hits for Madonna, Duran Duran, David Bowie, Diana Ross, and more, starts us out with some nice jazzy guitar helped up by an approaching drum, then backed by Adam Lambert’s rock-star powered vocals. The fun and funky jam of the song gets upheld by Nile Rogers on jazz guitar, plus added bass that keeps it feeling Rogers-esque, then we get lifted by Avicii percussion that will surely be getting arms in the air when it takes over soundwaves in the radio and clubs. Adam Lambert has a voice that always makes us want to sing with him, and he does it again. This song is sure to be a massive hit.The names in the collaboration already speak for themselves and with Avicii bringing another stellar melody that will get stuck in your head, backed by Adam Lambert’s voice and Nile Rogers guitar riffs, the barriers of song genre are once again broken. It’s so unique and special and creative, this track will do more for music in the future than people know. At the same time it adds inspiration to artists previously afraid to cross-genres and mix artist categories, as it does so well and with absolute success. Grammy nods predicted on this one.

On a slightly different topic...is avicii a producer too, by any chance. I think the music on his album is amazing, so many different things, and so many great vocalists...if he's a producer too I seriously hope he has a hand in Adams next album, wherever that will be. With Nile and pharrell of course. And nobody else! (Cuz it's all about what I want! )

If the original rumor was true, then I'm so glad Adam requested a rewrite. I think playing a drag queen would not benefit his career in any possible way, in fact, I think it would do harm. Glad it's not happening. Adam told us the rumor mill had warped the facts, and it appears the rumor mill is fixing its error. I posted when this came up that Adam and his management are way to smart to do anything idiotic. I trust them to handle this. I am most glad that he will not be singing Judas. I am OK with "Applause" because if they do the rumored medley of Applause and Roar -- and Adam is singing Applause, he will make something out of that song which is pretty good. I am hoping for a song-rumble with Kurt. Adam doing Applause and Kurt singing Roar.

I did think the drag queen was far-fetched for Adam. It's interesting tho because Adam said over and over he didn't know what part he was playing.

I don't even care for YMM. I listened to it several times, and it never grabbed me. There are several much better tracks on True, but I think some of the explanations were that Europe would like it. yes! That was the thought!

Q3, are you still guarded as far as LMD becoming a single? Downloaded Lay Me Down from iTunes as soon as it became available, and got my True CD from Amazon today! The CD came with a sticker on the plastic cover that said, "Debut Artist Album Featuring "Wake Me UP", "You Make Me", and "Lay Me Down". Would that be an indication of LMD becoming a single since we know the other two have? And who do you think is responsible for choosing the singles? I thought Adam didn't choose his singles. In one of Avicii's interviews he said his personal favorite was LMD. Now in one of the newer interviews he says "Hey Brother". And it is the third track. Are they releasing the tracks in order? I personally don't like YMM. WMU reminds me so much of PP's "Home". I guess that is what's selling right now. Loving "Addicted to You". Haven't heard them all yet....

Actually, it appears to be someone looking only at the US. BUT YMM is not a single in North America. Where it has been released as a single, it is outselling LMD. From KORB.net ...... I left out WMU which is clearly the top selling track/single and the list of countries is too long to post They are looking at only the US iTunes rankings as of today for the tracks. You Make Me is on iTunes as a single, Q3. It was released the last week of August, August 30th, to be exact. It just has not gone to radio. It got as high as #7 on Dance tunes then VERY quickly dropped down and has not been in the Top 200 since. But it is just not a fair comparison. And who knows the total for YMM anyway -- it is split. In the US right now --- YMM has 4 pop bars --- 3 on the album track and 1 for the single. Sales are split. LMD has 3 pop bars. I think even in the US, YMM is currently outselling LMD when combined. But I do not know what this means anyway. Do I think LMD could be a bigger seller than YMM if promoted as a single? Yes. But the US does not need a new single because WMU is in the Top 10. Do I think the rank of the tracks in the US means that YMM was a bad choice for single #2? No -- makes no sense. For a global artist like Avicii, they have to think about the whole world, not be US-centric. Anyway, most label execs would not burn a great song in Europe when it is too soon for a new single in the US and Canada -- WMU has not yet peaked in North America? Why not use an OK track and save HB, ATL and LMD for later in the sales campaign? Better choice is to do an infill single, sync the global markets and release single #3 worldwide. So here is hoping that LMD beats out the other contenders -- which look like HB and ATL. Finally, YMM is doing OK across Europe right now. And that is what they wanted -- they wanted a second track where WMU had peaked. So they release TRUE with a single doing OK to excellently in the big markets....so here is what they have and it is beautiful!! United Kingdom You Make Me #4 #27 WMU #8 and #36 Germany You Make Me #40 #55 WMU #170 US WMU #5/7 (dropping slightly since the album release) Currently at #7. Canada WMU #5/7 (dropping slightly since the album release) Currently at #6.
