Okay, I'm listening to Hey Brother - I guess it's catchy, but yeah, how is it different from Mumford, PP, Lumineers, etc. Yee-haw! I guess it will be a choice of whether they want to make a last-ditch effort to catch the (I hope) tail-end of this folk-country fad, or show versatility by going wi LMD. Of course I'm speaking from the POV of someone who isn't at all into country or bluegrass and absolutely hated Oh Brother Where Art Thou. That all being said, as regards buzz, when I just googled "Avicii hey brother" and "Avicii lay me down," Hey Brother had 8,450,000 results to LMD's 5,060,000. Remember the other album tracks were out long before the album version LMD was heard. Youtube views; Hey Brother 285,886 since August 23 (27 days on youtube) Lay me down 180,687 since September 12 (7 days on youtube) I think LMD is winning!!

LMD is such a quallity piece of art; each artist had to produce his best (avicii, adam, nile) work to get such a magnificent sound. I love it and can play it on repeat for hours.
Many are wondering why Hey Brother is doing so well. IMO there are several reasons:
It's traditional bluegrass and not this pop country we have today.
The singer, Dan Tyminski, was the lead singer of the Soggy Bottom Boys in Oh Brother Where Art Thou. This song is very similiar to that music. Even the name is similiar. He is a 10 time Grammy winner.
Here's what Wiki had to say about the OBWAT soundtrack:
The soundtrack CD became a best seller, certified eight times platinum as of October 2007[11] with sales of 7,811,000 copies in the United States, as of July 10, 2013.[12] It won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 2002, the Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals (for singer Dan Tyminski, whose voice overdubbed George Clooney's in the film on "Man of Constant Sorrow", Nashville songwriter Harley Allen, and the Nashville Bluegrass Band's Pat Enright), and the Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance for "O, Death" by Ralph Stanley.
People who bought that CD will love this song and will buy it.
Avicii has been playing Hey Brother for several months longer than LMD at his shows.
I like this song a lot. I think they will both be hits in their own right...so different.
Personally, I want LMD to beat the socks off any other song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go Adam...go Adam.

Hey Brother has been on youtube in one form or another, remixs/concerts/soundcloud spolers (ie song #4) since at least April of this year so it had a four month head start. We loved the Oh Brother where are you movie. We watch it several times a year and I have the soundtrack CD that we take on trips too to play along with Doors and Billy Joel and the Beatles and Jethro Tull. It's fun spotting the other two actors (Clooney's a given) in other movies.

Avicii has said that they (with his manager/co-producer etc Ash Pournouri) made a record consisting only new material and not a collection of formerly-released tracks as most of EDM producers do. They wanted songs on the album that could all be singles. He is confident that LMD will be a single and after interviewer pressing 'it must be the next' he says that he thinks it will be the next one. However, it's a business decision and nothing is set in stone - yet. Prospects are good for LMD but let's not jump the gun here.
