My two cents. I thought Shosh's comment was cute and light hearted. I think Hey Brother and Wake Me Up are decent songs. They don't really strike me as country songs--more like singer-songwriter genre. If the guy singing Hey Brother didn't have the southern accent, I wonder if people would think "country" when listening to it. Avicii has added a twist to it, so it is quite different. Seems to me that there is a fine line between the sound of current country music and rock/pop. I find EDM (the little I've listened to) to be mind-numbingly boring. It's like listening to Phillip Glass but with a beat. Makes me want to knock my head against a wall. I'm off to rehearse Mahler. Have a good discussion so I'll be entertained when I get back. I need my nighttime reading.  |
