Adam is a performer. An entertainer. Hence, a chameleon. I remember an interview where Adam talked about the Audience reaction to "one little hip roll" during the Idol concerts. "Oh, I see. This is the kind of artist my audience wants me to be." He wasn't really expecting that coming out of musical theater and Idol. He adapted. He went with it. He had fun with it. But, it was never the essence of who Adam is. The Adam singing "The Prayer" in the Jewish temple is just as much who he is. As is the kid dressed in drag for "My Conviction" and stripping naked in "Hair." And puffing on a joint singing "Purple Haze" in Amsterdam. The guy has many sides. He ENJOYS playing dress up. He ENJOYS embodying different roles. He's been doing it all his life. He's chosen to dedicate his life to it. We all play different roles in our lives, dressing differently, talking differently, walking differently, acting differently, putting on a different personality to suit the situation. Heavens, I don't act the same with my aged parents as with my co-workers, as with my fellow Adam stans. One is not more "genuine" than another. I think Adam hit just the right tone, image, expression for iHeart and Queen last night. One that emphasized the incredible voice, the strikingly handsome man, and the classy performer who always stands out, even if he is not being over the top. I loved it! First I want to thank talon for the honest opinion and expertise I'm 68 years old grandmother from Finland and I am a huge fan of Queen and Adam Lambert. I have seen live Queen+AL in London and Adam in Helsinki 22.3.2013 where I met Adam personally (look my happy face in my avatar). And of course I have watched hundreds of Adam performance videos. Yesterday was a very emotional day. I watched iHeartRadio festival direct on my computer. Thanks for ladyoz who gave me a hint about the program which allowed me to watch the program in Finland. After the concert I watched videos and red reviews the whole day long. In the evening my head was mixed but I was so happy for Adam I totally underwrite cassie's post like grandduchesspf says: "I'll take Adam's way, any way that I can get it."

Adam's performance last night showed vocal agility, creativity and confidence. His stage presence was off the chart, powerful and sexual. He was joyful, playful and dominant. And in control. He has gotten rid of some major baggage this year and has moved forward and is ready for his future. He's prepared like we've never seen him be prepared. He makes me breathless.

In all seriousness.....I think a lot of Adam's performance was dictated by his footwear. His freedom of movement was inhibited...he couldn't bounce around easily. But I felt he got it right. What I wanted for him was a dignified, vocally great, performance in as near to his natural beauty as possible. I know little but I felt, and still feel, this was his best way to change opinions and create new positive ones in very casual, non- invested viewers. Job done. Job done, indeed!!And I think you might be right about the footwear!! The man was wearing the equivalent of 4" stilettos, and those pants were.... I dunno... sort of thigh-gasping. Not a lot of leeway for gymnastics. LOL

I must be the only one who liked Nate's STL. Obviously I prefer Adam's version but Nate was so thrilled to be performing with Queen that i liked sharing in his joy. I liked Nate also. He just seemed so enthusiastic and excited to play with his heroes- just like Adam. It was really cute. I prefer Adam singing STL, but he doesn't own the song and Nate did a good job. Some Adam fans criticize some Freddie fans for not accepting anyone taking Freddie's place and we are outraged that they cannot see what Adam brings to the table. Then we turn around and do the same for a singer we feel is singing 'Adam's song'. I don't get it. Absolutely loved the entire performance. Well said, nannygoat!! You make some excellent points. I will just add a couple of thoughts… There are some of us who are passionate about/adore both Adam and Queen. We have never had an opportunity to see their concerts (except through youtubes) and never will. Heck, there are probably many peeps on this forum who have never even seen Adam Lambert perform live, let alone with Brian May and Roger Taylor. After the Hammersmith concerts ended, we never knew if we’d ever see Adam + Queen again. We hoped and prayed, but we didn’t know if it would happen. Then suddenly the i-heart festival is announced and Queenbert is actually gonna happen in Vegas, and the anticipation and flailing begins and we set aside that extremely precious 30 minutes on a Friday night so we can glue ourselves to our computers and install our drool buckets… Well, you know the routine. We are desperate. We are filled with longing. Our anticipation is so high we have paramedics’ phone numbers stuck to our desks in case we faint or have cardiac arrest during that extraordinary 30 minutes. And then fun. is allotted 5 minutes and 46 seconds of that 30 minutes, so we’re now down to what… 24-25 minutes, and it’s like Noooooooooooooooooo pleeeeeeeze Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!! Don’t take away 5 minutes and 46 seconds from us!!!! And, I, for one, who is normally a gracious, generous, reasonable person, is suddenly feeling miserly and selfish and gimmee gimmee gimmeee because we’ve only been given 30 minutes of Queenbert and I really really neeeeeeeed all of those 30 minutes so bad!!! Here’s the thing: Nate was absolutely adorable and excited and all those things you say and more. I totally get that he was having the time of life playing with his heroes. I love him for his enthusiasm! But, I would have loved it more if Nate had been given a song in the middle of a 2-hour Queenbert concert. I could have handled that graciously. But with the time restriction of just 30 minutes, I selfishly wanted all of those precious minutes for Adam because it MIGHT. NEVER. HAPPEN. AGAIN. And it didn’t matter to me that it was Nate/fun. who was given that 5 minutes and 46 seconds… I would have felt exactly the same way if it had been Katy Perry or Bruno Mars or that old geezer Paul McCartney or Elton John taking away that 5 minutes and 46 seconds. I just wanted my precious 30 minutes because I'm really selfish that way.

I have to add that I was just listening from a radio station, not watching Nate's enthusiam, and what I heard, I did not like. If I had been a judge in The Voice, I would not have pushed the button. That's it!

Don’t take away 5 minutes and 46 seconds from us!!!! Some random thoughts regarding this: Just before the show started, I felt the equivalent of stage fright as if I was going to sing with Queen. This made me realize that I am not merely enjoying Adam's performances as a viewer/listener, I am using him as an avatar! I am getting pleasure when he gets things right (which is nearly 100% of the time), and I feel the same pain when he gets something wrong as if *I* did something wrong in front of a large audience. I am projecting myself into his body and living a parallel life as a performer I can never be (I don't have 0.0001% of his singing abilities although I have inherited a pretty good ear from some classically trained people in the family). It surely has some parallels to how people invest in characters from soap operas, dramas or reality shows... If I could be a superhero, I would like to be Superman (just not the one from "Man Of Steel" ) . If I could be a singer, I would like to be AFL! I am somewhat glad that there was another guest included in the set though. Not only did it provide a sense of contrast (here is the best singer Nate knows, and here is Nate himself, whoever has the ear should listen), but it also shifted the attention from Adam being a guest of Queen to Fun being the guests and Adam being the actual singer of Queen who takes a break to let the guests play a bit... The act was billed as "Queen+Adam Lambert", and there was a lot less discussion about why Adam was there as he appeared as the organic part of the collective - composed, relaxed and musically perfectly fitting - while Fun appeared as the fans that felt blessed to even be there with their heroes. So everything is a matter of a point of view. I usually skip the STL part when watching the concert videos simply because it hurts my ears a bit, but I appreciate what it did to the total perception of the act for the viewers and for the media - it emphasized Adam's qualities and did not take away from him anything... I also mentioned once that I did not like AOBTD or CLTCL in London and I wasn't looking forward to hearing them in Vegas. I am taking this back, Adam has improved by leaps and bounds and these two are now together with WWTLF my favorites from the new concert! Now if he would just do Runnin' live with this low register, I could go die happy...
