The fan club sold out of their tickets, didn't they? So future tickets would be through ticketmaster or Winstar directly I believe. I have given away a few tickets in the past and also have contributed towards purchasing a ticket for needy fans. I am concerned with how and who decides which person is the neediest etc. but I think this is a wonderful idea, would feel really good to help out a fellow glambert. They did? I can't get access yet to find out. Darn, it would make it better if it was a good seat. This is why Q3 thought of the lottery idea, because it would be difficult to decide. Purchasing a ticket is one thing, but we have members from other countries that would have to fly here. They sold out within an hour I believe. I would think that if a glambert has the funds to fly to the US for New Years Eve, they could probably also afford a ticket that is about $100 - that would be the least of the costs. It would be pretty special to find someone who is actually fairly close to the venue but cannot afford a ticket - I have no idea how to find such a person (maybe a "nomination" system?). |

I want to put an idea out to all of you.. if I may Q3? Someone was asking about artistsupporter, how she manages to be able to attend so many concerts ( from Alaska no less!) and it reminded me of the fact that there are many members on ATOP that have not had the opportunity to attend a live concert of Adam's, and other remote members that because of distance or personal/financial obligations may have only attended one or two. Q3 and I talked about a lottery project several months ago, and I am going out on a limb and suggesting that there are many smart Atoppers that could likely help organize and put together such a venture. The idea that we discussed was setting up a lottery for the equivalent of airfare, hotel , tickets and spending money for two to travel to an Adam event. We as members could buy these lottery tickets, if we chose, on behalf of someone who we would like to see attend ( permission needed as the person would have to make their own travel arrangements should they win. ) We have the New Year's concert coming up, would this be enough time to organize such a lottery in time for that person to make the arrangements? With the pre-sale ending on Friday I would like to suggest the purchase of two tickets to be held for this project, with the permission of Atop mods of course! Am I out of turn to suggest this Q3 on this open forum?? What do others think? I would be happy to purchase the tickets if I could just get the fan club to accept my payment for a new membership...trouble on the site.. Sandy, it is a nice idea except that it cannot be a lottery -- that is illegal in many US states -- and I operate this site from the US. It can be a contest but that would require someone to donate the tickets. So no tickets can be sold on this forum. Setting that aside, the tickets are a small part of the expense of going to a remote concert. I have had tickets to a few concerts in the past that no one wanted because of the other expenses. |

So, Q3, can we have a contest for two tickets, airfare, hotel and travel expenses for two, to be won by a random draw? And the rules of the contest is members can donate $10 along with the name of the recipient they would like to sponsor, up to say 300 tickets? Is that legal and possible? We still need two tickets bought asap for this event. This is absolutely not something that I want to take on. And a calling it a donation does not change it from a lottery -- because what is the charity? The only way to do something like this is to get everything donated to a charity, then the charity can sell the tickets to benefit that charity. I operate as an LLC not a 501c3. |

The only way to do something like this is to get everything donated to a charity, then the charity can sell the tickets to benefit that charity. I operate as an LLC not a 501c3. Sorry Q3.. can't seem to get around the red tape, can we, and I certainly would not expect you to personally have to organize something like this in it's entirety.. I guess that's a no! It's a no. :( And there are many more issues then red tape. This is just not the right place for it. |
