What really bugged me was comments about karaoke. Has Adam ever sung anything karaoke? Not that we've heard BUT the touring cast of Wicked said they hated to go out to karaoke bars with him while on tour -- he was a hard act to follow. Concerts, Performances and Recordings -> Adam The Idol Era -> Page 17 Adam Lambert Bibliography atop.proboards.com/thread/23/2009-adam-lamberts-ai-performances?page=1723. Kaye, Kimberly. "They Knew Him When: Broadway Stars Cheer On American Idol Hopeful Adam Lambert."Broadway.com March 13 2009. www.broadway.com/shows/wicked/buzz/5988/they-knew-him-when-broadway-stars-cheer-on-american-idol-hopeful-adam-lambert/atop.proboards.com/post/90953/threadInterview with several of Adam's Broadway friends who worked with him in various musicals. Interviews: ALISAN PORTER, EDEN ESPINOSA, LAUREN KENNEDY, KEVIN EARLEY, and MEGAN HILTY. MEGAN HILTY Hilty, who appeared with Lambert in Wicked, stars in the new Broadway musical 9 to 5. Note: Megan Hilty more recently starred in the TV show "Smash".
How did you meet? We met on tour with Wicked, and then worked together again in the L.A. company [of the show]. Since he was the Fiyero understudy we got to have our little moments together onstage, whenever I was lucky enough.
What did you think the first time you heard him sing? The first time he went on as Fiyero, I couldn’t believe it. I was warned before how amazing he was, but you can only be prepared for so much. It’s funny because we’d go out and do karaoke for fun, and the whole party would stop when he got up to sing. It was kind of, like, ‘He’s too good, I can’t go after that!’ He’s a joy to be around, so they’re very lucky to be around him out there in Hollywood.
Favorite performance of his? It was always during karaoke. There’s a DVD of it somewhere. Oh, God. It was some rock song I’ll never remember the name of, but the whole bar—people we didn’t even know—just stopped. No one could believe what they were hearing. His voice is in a different stratosphere.
Favorite memory? Oh, gosh. We were always doing silly things. What I can say is he’s an excellent board game player, and we always wanted him on our team. He always won everything.
What kind of artist do you see him as? One of the great things about Adam is I can’t say he’s the next so-and-so. He’s so unique, and has such a special talent that I think he’s going to be the next Adam Lambert.
What do you think when people say he is too “theatrical” for Idol? I think saying someone’s too musical theater is b.s.! Frankly, that’s offensive. It’s the easy way out to try and find something wrong with him when there’s nothing wrong. It also gives a stigma about who “Broadway” people are. I mean, we’re not people that overly indicate and put on a show wherever we go. I’m tired of people putting the “Broadway label” on someone as if it were a bad thing.
Personal Song Request: He’s done so much rock stuff, I’d love him to show off any slow tunes in general. People think they’ve seen what he can do, but you haven’t seen anything yet. I think he’ll show it off. He’s a smart cookie!
ETAwww.thelambrits.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3930This is the whole interview with Megan Hilty, one of the co-performers in the ‘Wicked’ musical Adam had been playing in during his L.A. pre-Idol days. Megan mentions Adam at around 5:50 to 6:30, remembering they went often to karaoke bar together, which used to end with Adam singing the whole set as everyone was thrilled with his performance.

Sue @suesartistry 3h @shoshannastone I love all the positive things I'm reading about Adam. He deserves this praise & recognition so much!

@suesartistry lots more coverage still to comeAdam did a number of interviews while he was in Las Vegas. I gather this is a reference to that. Regards the rock fans who are Queen "experts", I recommend ignoring them. They claim to know all about Freddie, and the greatness of Queen, and focus on concerts that occurred before they were born -- like Montreal 1981 -- and talk about rock credibility. But Freddie was constantly criticized by rock purists for doing so many ballads and non-rock songs. Back in 1981 -- the band had rock cred, Freddie was often criticized. (Hard to believe that now that he has been canonized.) I still hope that they will do one more concert with John Deacon, Roger and Brian featuring Adam Lambert. Highly unlikely but I can dream.

A Huge Success Some Of The Biggest Names In Music Deliver To The Fans September 23, 2013 at 6:52 AM (PT) .. The night ended with QUEEN and ADAM LAMBERT introduced by KBIG (1043 MY FM)/LOS ANGELES night personality and syndicated radio and TV star MARIO LOPEZ. The first song was "Bohemian Rhapsody" and if you didn't know it was ADAM you'd swear it was FREDDY MERCURY that was singing. The playing was amazing. Among the other songs in this QUEEN retro set: "Another One Bites The Dust," "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," "Who Wants To Live Forever," "Somebody to Love" with FUN.," "Fat Bottomed Girls," "Dragon Attack," "Bohemian Rhapsody (reprised), ""We Will Rock You," and the show closed with "We Are The Champions." JMHO it actually did not sound like FreddIE. It just sounded perfect. Play them side by side and you will see what I mean. They both sound perfect but they sound quite different.

People just find a reason to diss. It's not that he's never sung in a karaoke bar, but karaoke is being used as a negative like "too Broadway" - so stupid - lot of fear and jealousy.

Do I have it right?

Adam is Adam, not a copy cat of anyone, even Freddie. As great, I think, but so very, very unik.
