OMG! I can't!!! Adam becoming a bad guitar player so he can write "better" songs scares the hell out if me! I can't think of many thingsthat would totally stifle his creativity more than that! Most song writing teams have a lyricist and a composer . And since most composing is done with computers now, trust me, plucking a few chords on a guitar happens more and more rarely!! BTW, I think Adam is a great song writer! ITA.... almost everyone in pop writes by committee now. Bruno Mars and Pink (who apparently doesn't play any instruments either) are both known as outstanding writers and they always write with other people. IMO Adam has written some great stuff. |

I totally agree with what Murly and Mys*&@^#r just posted.
Also I was hoping to hear something about the IHeart concert on my rock station. Today I caught the very end of FBG (not concert version) and after she said that Queen played at the concert and she sounded, well, awestruck by them. She said something like Brian said we just threw this together but we have a lot to think about now. It sounded like she thought now that they found Adam and he was perfect with them that they should do more. She talked about the notes he hit. It was cool to hear his name and how impressed she was with him. I'm glad I caught it.

... And, to end with another topic I regularly get flack for on this board. I do think that the reason Adam is close, but just not quite there in his songwriting is because he cannot ground himself in an instrument to give him the necessary support. He has to translate what he wants with words and then take what another person echos back and work from that. He will win, once he fixes that. It takes about 6 weeks to learn guitar to a level that you can support yourself with accords. It's not that difficult or time consuming to learn the basics. It takes years to learn guitar such that you can perform professionally. Adam will never need to do that. He can always leave it to others. But if he wants to win as a song-writer he needs to fill that gap to support his writing process. YMMV I guess my mileage does vary and my answer to your note that Adam needs to play an instrument to write better songs would be Bernie Taupin (Elton John's songwriting partner of decades who doesn't play an instrument)... And I'd add to that a comment I once read by famed songwriter Townes Van Zandt that every song he wrote had to work as a poem before he even tried to add music to it. He didn't write the music then the lyric it was always the other way around. |

I am of the opinion that when Nile called Adam, he knew darn well, that version would never be a demo!! Nile is very, very smart!!!!  For Avicii, every song for the album had pretty much been decided and finished. So for him, in his mind, it was probably a demo to see if he wanted to use this new song! Like I said, Nile is very smart! If anyone hasn't read his book yet, I highly recommend it! I'm late to the discussion, but this is what I was thinking too. It was an opportune time for Nile to slide Adam in there, last minute, no advance contracts (?), just go for it. |

a rhetorical question for the ages.. Do you think we will ,in the near future, see Adam without the Mustache? My heart aches for a clean shaven Adam.. i'm doing my best to cope with all that great singing and the stache. I empathize with this. I won't go on and on about it since I have before. But I get the feeling this is going to be the A3 look. I am torn, because I really want/like the clean shave Adam... but with the stubble he my reel in more guys since he now just looks like all the rest of them. Glad when he doesn't put the black on the whiskers though! Personally I can handle a mustache much more than the rest of the stubble which just makes the face look dirty from afar. I know, his face, he can do what he wants and all... I will just have to deal with it:-) |

Being curious and embracing that curiosity is all a part of what I'm about. You don't have to be any one thing. You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play.

Early Am musings:OK What I think I'm hearing and reading..Is that Adam needs a defining hit song that marries the words and music to his ICONIC VOICE , WWTLF ? unfortunately it belongs to another, Freddie Mercury.. Brian May do you just have another song just for ADAM?? I love many of Adam's own songs but they don't always show off the different sides or the' full monty' so to speak of Adam's incredible gift. Thinking Dolly Parton's 'I will Always love you' and Whitney Houston. IMHO Adam wants to write that epic song,but will he? Would he mind having someone else's song do it for him? Is it just to early in Adam's career for this and isn't Adam still experimenting with all different types of music.. Does he even want to be identified with one song or one genre.. He can really do it all. Adam may just have the voice looking for that perfect place/song,that place/song/genre that catapults him into that greatest singers 'hall of fame'.What do you think??I thought I might have had the Eureka moment.. I'm thinking many have had it before me..LOL...For now just Basking in the glow of Adam's amazingness and America waking up to it.... Back to bed Post script.. WTF am I rambling about?? BTW, I think Adam is a great song writer! I do, too. The songs that he wrote on both of his albums stood out to me as smart and compelling and interesting, both musically and lyrically. I LOVE Adam written songs. They just have not been the one that got released to radio... well, Trespassing did, but by then it didn't get much appreciation since it was third after the first two he didn't write on... what a waste...
