"Three sheets to the wind" is the usual expression. It comes from the days of sailing ships. If a sheet (which on a sailing vessel was the term for a rope or a chain) was loose, then the sails didn't work and the ship wallowed out of control. A sailor who is three sheets to the wind is very drunk indeed. "Hair of the dog that bit you" means curing a hangover by having another drink. It comes from the ancient idea that every animal contained the antidote to its own poison, so if you were bit by a rabid dog, you applied a poultice of that dog's hair. Of IDF, I know not.  ...
