Good question. Maybe they like how he looked as Elliot (not Starchild) with no eyeliner. Maybe they didn't like how he stuck his tongue out for high notes or emo hair on Idol. Maybe they didn't like his many high notes on Idol, which is tamed down for MTN. Maybe he just sounds better. Maybe he's just been around long enough now that he doesn't seem so different. Has anyone asked those tweeters? Good questions for sure. I agree with your thoughts - regarding this 'Glee' audience. I still have friends who are firmly in the 'I don't like Adam Lambert' camp. It doesn't have anything to do with his voice; it's the presentation that they can't move beyond. One 'friend' (I hesitate using that word) pantomimed a caricature of Adam singing - with his tongue extended. She loved the attention of her little lark and found it a source of great laughs - I just walked away. She will never 'get' him; and he is the better for it. Another friend just doesn't want to hear me talk about Adam. We discuss her interests, but if I turn the conversation towards this man - and I do, because he's part of my life now - I can literally visualize the 'click off' as she mentally departs. Don't care. I'm through wasting energy and effort. They have been so anti-Adam that becoming an 'out and proud' fan right now would just fly in the face of the certainty they've held so dear. I'll let them spin. They are not among the fans we're hearing about on Twitter. I don't know if it's a sign of the times, or Adam's growth as a performer, or the familiarity he is gaining in the media. We talk about how his voice is 'maturing'. Well, here's my two cents about that. His voice was incredible when he sang 'Come to Me Bend to Me'. His voice was incredible in 'Hair'. He was stellar in 'Heaven on Their Minds'. He was amazing on Idol. His voice isn't making me love him more. His voice drew me to him. Now, HE is making me love him more. I see a progression of presence; of poise; of the way he uses the catwalk and red carpet to his advantage. He's allowing himself to show his intelligence and upbringing; he may sometimes be afraid but he's finding the support he commands. Yes, I see so much change in him. He is not like us. When I knelt in front of his table, delivering a letter at the GLAAD Awards, I felt an aura, a presence about him. Something he's needed to develop as a 'force field' if he is to make his way through the throngs of fame. He moves among us; interacts among us - because he still needs to feel the earth. We are his connection to reality. He is our connection to our dreams. What remains is the reason why I'm typing away, trying to find the explanation. It all comes back to performance. His voice, as raw, lyrical, sensuous as it is, would just be another good voice were it not for the emotional gift he brings to every note. Adam lives the music. He lived 'Happy Birthday' to Terrance; he lived 'disco, disco' at Coquitlam, and 'I want to get laid' in Costa Mesa. His gift was ' . . . up' in the Idol duet 'Titanium'. Those of us who've caught the dream understand. More and more will gather in. Music is the universal language, and Adam is the most gifted, prolific expert I have ever known. 'Glee', and Queen, and Avicii, and Adam's future will bring them home. It's like the language you learned in the womb. It begins you. Beautifully written and so inciteful. And what is it about 'that aura', 'that presence'? I felt it too when I saw him during the GNT in Toronto. He wasn't onstage, he was just walking in the crowd and greeting fans. The feeling was almost unsettling, in a way. I can't really explain it- a combination of animal magnetism and charisma. I adore this man and am constantly wowed by his talent! Absolutely loved MTN. How could he get better than this??? I'm sure I'll find out soon.

I wonder what Lady Gaga thinking about Adam's performance, I think she must have seen it. I'm curious because it's not a new song, I know this song for some time and I love it. One thing I have always wondered why this song was never mentioned in any circumstances, ever, or not having been played on the radio, not here in Australia where Gaga is very popular. I once asked my boys why this song is not on the radio but they did not have an answer, as they would also wondered why, for them, it looked like that the song was banned for some reason. From what I understand that in America the song also was not on the radio or maybe I'm wrong .. I am so happy that Adam took this song, it's a great song. Any one song that is covered by Adam is like a phoenix arose from the ashes, they sounded just amazing..Adam is a real and natural king of music .. www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaJ3FLqCEQk I watched the official vevo youtube of it. 10 or 15 minutes long, gaga as naked as a Miley on a wrecking ball, marry the night as in committing suicide. Looked a little bit at one live performance that was meh. I just don't think it went over that well. A lot of monsters liking Adam's version.

I am so happy for Adam. He is getting so much praise for his role in Glee. I have been reading the comments on all his article and they are very positive. In fact, the lone trolls are so out of place that they are laughable. The trolls are having a hard time because they are being asked to go back to the lonely rooms or caves where they usually dwell. Adam was ... excellent, perfect, outstanding, superb, out of this world good in his Glee debut. What I really love about Adam, is that with all the accolades he took the time to thank everyone for the love he is currently getting. He is so sweet. This moment and all the excitement are great. I am just going to savor it and appreciate it and not worry about next. Adam is living his dream. He is a long way from Mt. Carmel high school. He knows it. I am so damn happy for him. This is what I can see Adam doing since I've started to follow him. He never forgets to thak his fans, people he performs for, he talks to... And I love it! He IS so sweet, polite, wonderful! And I'm very happy for him and his success too.He truly deserves it!!!

I just found out that it was about lyric in the song and also for the video. For me, this is nothing surprising in this song, I just I like it, and maybe it is good sometimes not thoroughly understand English .... But when Adam is performed, I got goose bumps ...it feels like a different song... BTW: thank you very much for the respond .. really appreciate it, it means a lot to me..

Why are folks who used to dislike Adam now climbing onboard? I think it has to do with context. Adam on Idol didn't fit the mold. Wasn't the safe boy next door. Was strange. And, perhaps, like Starchild, was perceived as trying way too hard and being too OTT. Adam after Idol was most often portrayed to the masses as this bad boy, in-your-face, gay dude in eyeliner still totally OTT, and slightly uncomfortable for many. On the other hand, GLEE is the story of misfits, geeks, weirdos, gays, transgenders, and every other flavor, letting their freak flags fly, persevering despite being oustracized and bullied, embracing their "crazy" and supporting each other in a very "feel-good" manner. The triumph of the underdog. In that context, Adam's OTT, weird, eyeliner, gay dude fits in perfectly. Is a textbook conglomeration of all the "freaks". And he does it so thoroughly and convincingly, and with such excellence in performance. The other thing that GLEE does is show that, behind the outer persona, be it cross dressing, macho quarterbacking, snobby cheerleader, disabled, sexy, etc..... behind all of them there is a real person with feelings, questions, insecurities, who is more than a little like all of us. GLEE is good at personalizing and humanizing the larger than life caricatures. They did precisely that with the diner conversation between Elliott and Kurt. Many people, up to that point, had only been exposed to Adam as Starchild in the media. We fans knew that it was all performance, and we knew the wonderful person behind the persona, but most folks never had the opportunity to "meet" that person. GLEE gave them that side, and how could they help but fall in love with him?I so agree with this cassie!

(Finally got to the end of this thread. So exciting having to read so many posts, such interesting and great posts, thank you all! And thanks again to Adam for his fabulous and outstanding performance! And for him being so himself! ) I knew Marry The Night (it's an interesting coincidence - I found that song just about the same time I discovered Adam) and I liked it. But you are both so right ladymaserati8 and Jablea. The first moment I saw Adam performing the song, I thought how different his way of performance of it was from those Gaga's ones (I saw a few of Gaga's performances of MTN and I can't say I would love them). Adam really pushed the song on totally different level. Higher, better, more positive level. I had a feeling like Adam sang about him and his journey with a positive ending (at least from my POV). Yes, he was 'marry the night', but unlike Gaga version (mostly performed in a very creepy and depresive mood), his version sounded positive and constructive to me and I could see there some good, happy ending. Exactly as Ladymaserati8 said - it feels like a different song.

I wondered where you were hiding - did you like it? Good one mehitabel ! As mehitabel said "Did you like it Kamar?" Kamar, I love your writings. You are about 50 years younger than I am. Due to my raising I can't write like you ( for example I mean those swear words etc) and because my native language is not English it's Finnish. It's so refreshing to read your Roller Coaster. But we have a shared, wonderful hobby my dear young friend, we love AFL!
