Given that some want to lock up hair-stylists this morning, let me just say:
For everyone that wants to lock up (metaphorically speaking) a person with a specific taste or opinion, there will be ten who want to lock up the person trying to lock up dissenting people.
Can we just agree to disagree, accept that there are different preferences or different assessments of what is important.
Some think that pretty is the most important, others favor avant-garde as a look, again others focus on a specific artistic integrity, others on expression, meaning or intent or any combination thereof.
There is not one right way to look at art, but there is a wrong way in denying others their right to express it. Glad, that some folks don't get to be in charge in what Adam gets to do, his art would be so narrow.
Somebody asked why Adam put these two year old pictures out now. Well, I can't read Adam's mind, but perhaps he is posting for the new fans that are just now picking up the trail. They have not seen the many faces of Adam yet.
Most of the new Glee fan crowd seems to focus on two things in their comments: a) hot and sexy, and b) great performance of MTN. They have not seen Adam being avant-garde, which these pictures very much are to me. They have not seen an Adam that sometimes puts pretty aside, because he wants to express something or challenge his followers. On Glee, he gets to show his sweeter side, luckily in two different personas right from the start, which is great, but with these photos he again shows a different side of him.
In addition, I clearly see a black and white phase coming on.
It is interesting to me that we tend to call a photo black and white, when in reality it contains all shades of grey.
That mirrors another topic where we tend to call things black and white (gender), when in reality there are all kinds of grey present at all times. Maybe that is where Adam is headed next.
People have pointed out that the symbol is very much a blending of male and female elements, too (circle vs triangle). Perhaps we see a sophisticated form of androgyny next. Just a guess, but if that is where he is headed, then these Tony Duran photos are perfect.
I am at present still struggling to understand how this would fit with a more rock direction, musically.
I see more the Bowie line of progression at the moment. We just have to wait and see what comes of it.
What is Bowie actually? Rock or pop? I realize he is glamrock, but I would not normally call it rock, so much. It's his own thing. Just rambling now.....
