Yes, but people then never was thinking about this like we are these days - music then was not art but a companion or tool. Expressing yourself is entertaining, it gives you pleasure. It's not about art, it's all about that feeling. Music then was art! All that's happened is that sometime in the early 19th century, art as instruction separated from art as enjoyment, so we tend to consider stuff that draws a large audience as "entertainment," vs "real" art that is for the artist alone.

Yes, I know, and I'm talking exactly about this. We are thinking about it now as art, but people then wasn't thinking like that at all. As a painter myself I will use Rembrandt as example - if you told him that he is an atrist he would not understand what you are talking about. He would tell "I'm carftsman, I'm making paintings for money".

OMG I'm laughing so hard
I'm watching a movie called Pitch Perfect about a student who basically wants to be a DJ. In one of the scenes, a student showing off in the video room pulls out various records.
What do you think he pulls out "FYI" in full bloom. ªabout 45 min into the movie) Well, I didn't expect that. Back to watching

Can anyone explain to me WHY glee has a hiatus after episode 8 till the spring? Greg Kinnear is premiering a new TV show called "Rake" in the Glee time slot on Fox Network. I wasn't too happy to hear about that, cuz now we have to wait several months for Adam's next episode.

Can anyone explain to me WHY glee has a hiatus after episode 8 till the spring? They are producing 21 or 22 episodes this year -- that is many more than most primetime series do in a season now. A typical show used to have 26 episodes a season in the 1960's-1970's -- now it is around 13 episodes. They do the show in blocks of 3 or 4 to keep them current and include new music. Take, for example, The Fox. There will be a big push for The Fox in North America and around the world around US Thanksgiving leading into the release of the new children's picture book in early December. Just in time for Christmas. So Glee will be in line with the promotion.

Crazyoldgal....
Yah...when the movie came out, we thought that the Anna Kendrick connection maybe allowed her to pull a string or two to showcase his FYE album. Pretty cool!

Ok, thank you holst and others for talking me off the ledge! Does this mean that it is common knowledge that this song is making fun of modern music? Now it is entirety possible that I am the only one stupid and/or cynical enough to believe this song went viral despite, rather than because of, the fact that it sucks. But if the mass public doesn't get the joke then it is no different than what it is making fun of. If Glee uses this song as a means to express the greater message, then awesome!
Imagine the fun Adam is having with this puppet. Anyone know if they really are muppets? That would be pretty special. Someone once asked Adam who was his favorite muppet--Ive got to go back and look...
