INTRODUCING OTHERS TO ADAM - Had dinner with members of another band last week. They explained that they can't cover any Queen songs because they're too difficult to sing. Told them I'd seen all 3 London shows fronted by Adam Lambert. All band members were very respectful of AFL's considerable talents and didn't know much about his Idol days. The whole conversation was positive and all about his register and that Queen choose him to front their band during I-Heart.

Well, revlisacat is not too original and started years ago when I signed up for email using "revlisa" because I spent about 15 years in ministry as a pastor in the Lutheran church and my name is Lisa (duh). Then later, I wanted to sign up for a new email account and revlisa was taken, so I looked over at one of my cats and thought "well, they rule my life at home" -- hence "revlisacat". I have used this or another version of this for email, this forum and twitter. At this point, it's just easy to remember!

I love hearing about everyone's names, and having a few guesses (Holst, I'm talking to you) confirmed. Fun!

BTW, thanks for the Sauli skating videos--I'm a long-time skating fan and it's amazing how well he has learned to skate in such a short time.  

I was not really watching idol over the years, but usually had an ear out for some highlights from the show, because I generally liked it, just did not have time for it. I usually watched maybe one episode a year and occasionally heard summary reviews on the news. So, in season 8, I was quite busy, did not watch any episodes, but had heard lots of water cooler talk about Adam vs Danny and eventually heard the buzz, as well as the growing and ridiculous resentment against Adam in conservative circles. Rolled my eyes, but went on with my life and did nothing about it. Kind of grumbled to myself some things that I should have probably said out loud into somebody's face at times. But I didn't.

So I was working on my computer and the ticker lines on yahoo.com brought over the Bill O'Reilly interview. I Ignored it, as I usually do with BoR, but a few weeks later, the same ticker line was back on yahoo.
To be honest, I clicked it, just because I was shaking my head over the fact that this nutcase finds it worthy a story on his show to talk about the fact that there is somebody g-a-y running around Hollywood and apparently this somebody has dared to enter AI. I purely clicked, because while I hate BoR anyways, I could not fathom how this possibly could be considered a story, even if it was a slow news day in Washington. I had no intention to look any further, just was curious what spin the spin doctor was giving his segment.

I clicked on it, and the actual BOR report was not even there, but somehow the article excerpt was and so I had a name. Adam Lambert, so let's google him and see why he stirs up so much resentment and anxiety, if all he was doing was singing a silly song.

And I was stunned, hooked, fell down the rabbit hole, completely forgot about silly BoR, but fell in love with Adam. Fell hard. The first time I saw Adam within the idol show, was bottom of rock week (together with Allison). My kids went to bed at 8 pm at the time, so I had missed WWL. I knew too little to understand what the duet was about, thought it was a sing-off between him and Allison, lol. But eventually, I got caught up with everything and also bought everything that was available and d/l'd the rest.

By the time I discovered forums a few weeks later, AO had just been created, so I joined there.
Named myself after the first video that made me fall for him. Added the extra 'a' because it was so silly and unknown what I was going through. I did not recognize myself or my behavior. I had never been interested in any celebrity or singer ever.

The first time I ever saw the actual BoR video, was years later on some forum, maybe PF.
When any journalist makes negative reports about an artist, they also risk that they introduce that artist to people. Not everybody watches BoR nodding their heads religiously and not everyone seeing his name show up on yahoo, associates something positive with it.

But, yes, the unfortunate truth is, this leftie-in-me got introduced to Adam Lambert by BoR, whose show, I out of principle would never watch.
Kind of ironic how it all happened.

But my fascination with all things Adam never let up, and I still love to go back to all the various versions of 'Crazy' that we have from his pre-idol days. It is where it all started.  He wishes everyone a happy 2009. Little did he know what ride he was about to take.

Or I for that matter.
