So the whole band conversation has probably moved on but I've got to agree with Talon's comments above that the quality of the people you work with can have a direct impact on you. I don't think it is any coincidence that Adam has seen real growth and maturity as a performer and vocally since he has been doing gigs with Queen and collaborations with people like Niles. It has an impact. You hire the best talent you can, and yes fit is just as important as skill so you look for both and don't stop til you find it.

One "backing band" who is tight and has had a long time relationship with the artist is Keith Urban's band. They don't have any persona really of their own but they are part of his sound and his concerts in a real and tangible way - particularly his banjo player (who is amazing).

I have the feeling it is the new album. BUT it does explain why it has been a bit if a dry year. The initial deal was made for 3 years and really focused on the back catalogue and the 40th anniversary remasters. It was a way for Universal to see how Queen would sell and a way to see how Universal managed. So Queen would be smart with only a 3 year deal to hold some bits back for renegotiation. It seems
Both parties were satisfied enough and maybe now the vaults could open up a bit.
