How do you go about changing your username on this forum? When I signed up I thought that you couldn't have more than 9 letters, so I shortened mine, I'd like my whole name back now. I see some people have a lot more than nine. But I don't want to change my password. Help! Oh sorry hon. Was unpacking stuff. Give me a second to remember how its done. BRB. Ok. Here are the directions on the updated ProBoards (if anyone else did it a while back, the process has changed) 1. Look up the top of the page. On the main purple bar (where "Home" is the option on the far left), click on "Profile". 2. On the profile page, just BELOW the bar with Summary/Activities/etc, there are three buttons. The leftmost button says "Edit Profile". Click on that. 3. On the edit profile page, there is another bar that starts with Avatar/Personal/etc. Click on the "Personal" tab of that bar. 4. Change your "Display Name" to whatever you want. Please note that this action does NOT change your username (which is what you use to sign in with). You're stuck with that, but no one but you (and the mods) will see that from this point onwards. Also note that your username is the official name on your mailbox, but with the new ProBoards upgrade peeps should be able to mail you via your display name. 5. Good luck! Have fun! -HSM

Didn't we used to have a place where we could post a question to the mods??? I haven't tried on the new format. I look but I do not see...that is a question I would like very much answered for my own info. Yeah, there used to be a kinda "Moderator Bat-Signal" button, which was very convenient as it would throw up a general help query to any mod who logged in. Wish it would come back. Probably need to ask Q3 if it can be reprogrammed with this latest ProBoards iteration.

We are mostly having rain today but it was threatening to be icy. All my Christmas concerts are done and I was looking forward to a lovely day of relaxing at home. Since it's a slow day I'll tell my sad story. Unfortunately, during the night my lovely dog had a seizure and died at the vet's office this afternoon. This was very sudden as there were no warning signs at all. She was a soprano and sang fiercely when my students and I tuned our violins. I hated walking into my house tonight with no pup at the door. Feeling stunned and exhausted. Would like some Adam news as a diversion.

I'm so sorry to hear your news today Holst. We lost a pup in our family this year too. It was my son's dog Buddy. A beautiful black lab that my son and daughter-in-law adopted when she was pregnant with my first grandson who is almost 12 now. So he was there from the beginning and I just adored him. The last year of his life he was failing and then one night he went to sleep and never woke up. Chin up, she's singing soprano with the angels now!!!!!!

Oh, Holst . . . I'm so sorry.
Your pup is running through fields of joy, now, right along with my Zipper, who was released to the freedom of everywhere - to yip and yodel and chase and explore - only months ago. She still finds her way to my heart, as will your pup. We are better for their love.

If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are."
My heart weeps with you.

Oh, Holst, I'm so very sorry! I remember so well that "empty house" feeling when my cat died. You can take comfort in knowing that you gave her a good life. She didn't come to the end of her life homeless and alone like too many animals do. (I urge everyone to live by my signature line and don't buy a pet when you can rescue one!) I'm sure your pup was always grateful for the love and warmth you provided. Here's an adorable picture of sleeping puppies to make you feel better.
