Some small "edit" by me. I made it with permission from Dancy, so it's legal :D *WINSTAR FULL SHOW AUDIO SMALL EDIT* MP3 18-TRACKS. I deleted the excuss of basses and compressed the dynamics of voice and tune. The tracks may be sometimes have too high volume. Sorry for that. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE! BONNE HEUREUSE ANNÉE À TOUS!
What a way to transition into a new year. That show was both dynamite and smooth as silk. I'll take it all, though what I give in return is so little. Of course, the only reason I can experience these life-changing moments is because of the generosity of fellow/sister AFL fans. And I get to share it through the Atop family thanks to Q3, the mod team and everyone willing to share. I am forever grateful for the joy you have brought me these past years. I will cherish what is to come. Intense forward motion is a good motto.

He is probably adjusting the mix he hears in his monitor as the right balance there is essential for him to sing properly. Since he is such a dynamic performer that mix cannot just be set once and forgotten. Different songs might need different instruments to be emphasized in order for him to stay on track and to really feel the music. Bono had the same sound guy (pretty much THE best in the business) for over 30 years so they had a level of communication between them that was practically psychic. Joe could tell what needed adjusting just by Bono's body language. Adam doesn't have that close a consistent relationship with any sound guy yet. During Glam Nation was the closest he would have had to consistency but even then I think he switched sound guys in the middle of the tour. Don't know what the set up is for these one off shows. So I have no idea if he has had someone of his own or even if that someone has been the same person all along. Since we never seem to get introduced to sound guys I doubt there has been much consistency yet. Hard to believe we wouldn't know the guy by name if he's had the same one down the line. For some reason I got on a mindset that what he was hearing was what the audience was hearing too. How that would be remotely logical, I don't know. Every singer is different in what they want to hear. Bono likes to have a bed of what is going out to the audience but that is like background and then other things may be emphasized at various points. For Adam when he was talking about wanting his wailing to sound farther away is probably because if they don't back up on his own voice when he starts to wail it could be to piercing for his ears which might make him hold back on the power or projection. Some singers want only certain instruments. Drummers often have a click track of some kind to keep their timing against. Larry in U2 likes to use a mariachi sound instead of an actual click so it's not harsh in his ears. The sound guy has to tailor the mix for each member of the band, but singers especially need a lot of tweaking throughout. If he is working with venue provided sound board guy then they have to get communication down during sound check. But I think what makes it really hard is that Adam is not like the majority of other singers out there. He does things with his voice that not many do and if the sound person can't adjust to his needs quickly it makes it rough on everybody. |
