I am currently working on splitting the Winstar & Biloxi audio into individual songs and want to provide them in both a high quality format and a medium quality format, both suitable for making CDs and/or for storing in a media player (smartphone, mp3 player, tablet, PC with iTunes, Windows Media Player, VLC Media Player, etc.). I should be able to upload these 2 by Sunday.
Some people are audiophiles (want the best possible audio quality) and some prefer medium quality audio because it takes up less space on PCs and music players. There are many different software programs for playing music and for making CDs. Most of these programs and devices can handle all of the common medium quality formats (AAC, MP3, MP4/M4A)) but this is not the case for the higher quality formats (WAV, FLAC, AIFF(Apple Lossless)).
So, there are some questions I need to ask so that I can decide the best formats to go with. PMs would be best, but I'll also look in the thread for comments.
I especially need answers from the people who are audiophiles as the decision is more complicated for the higher quality files! But answers from others would be helpful also.
1) What software programs do you use for playing music?
2) What software programs do you use for burning CDs?
3) What devices do you play music on? (Please be specific: iPhone, iPad, Mac PC, Android Phone, Android Tablet, Kindle Fire, Windows PC, CD Player, Audio Receiver, etc. It is especially important to know if you use Apple, Android, Kindle, or Windows products.)
4) Is it important to you to have album artwork for your music files?
5) Can you download 20 files that are each typically 75 to 125 MB in size?
6) Are MP3 files the only file type that your music player or device will play? For example, some of the older MP3 players will only play MP3 files. My car has a CD player that will play MP3 files burned on a CD, but no other file types (other than a normal CD).
