Gelly @14gelly 5m TY RT @pickupwatch: . @14gelly Adam mention --> twitter.com/socialitelife/status/429000715999391744 …
SOCIALITE LIFEVerified account @socialitelife Does Anyone Else Think Miley Cyrus’ ‘Unplugged’ Wasn’t That Unplugged? soclfe.it/1jP6rl3
Now, maybe my idea of an MTV Unplugged session is old, but isn’t it that it’s a small space, small audience, small band and just the musical artist(s) singing? While Miley Cyrus‘ MTV Unplugged session covered some of these, I’m a little bit confused.
(Adam mention)
I know I often bring up Adam Lambert, but did you see his Unpluggedsession? I would argue that Adam is just as outrageous as Miley–if not more–but when he performed he was truly raw. Watch him sing “Mad World” below and try not to be moved. While Miley was fun, it just wasn’t what I was expecting.
Hm, unplugged does not mean that it can't be an upbeat song. It only means that there are no electronic instruments. I just watched Miley's unplugged videos and all I saw were metal string acoustic guitars, banjo, upright bass, cello, violins, real upright pianos, and a drum set. Nothing electronic except the amplification of these instruments and vocals needed for sound level, which even Adam had at his unplugged session. And she sang several slow tempo ballad type songs too. I really enjoyed watching Miley's unplugged session. She gave a country bent to the session, showing her musical roots, without being too country. Wreaking Ball was beautiful with all the string instruments. Her duet with Madonna was really fun. But my favorite was her rendition of Dolly Parton's Jolene! Miley called Dolly her "Aunt Dolly". Dolly is actually Miley's "Honorary Godmother". Brings back memories of when Miley's father Billy Ray Cyrus appeared on Dolly Parton's single "Romeo". My friends and I could not get enough of that video. Dolly grew up in my area, about 45 minutes from me (although I did not grow up here). She is well known as someone who never forgot where she came from. She has a really big heart and has helped to bring lots of jobs to her home town. And she provided scholarships for many of the high school graduates from her hometown to go to college. She is well loved here. I see Adam as having the same kind of big heart as Dolly. He does everything that he can to advance the plight of his community (I don't mean his geographical location). And he is well loved for it too!!! I so want to hear string instruments on some of Adam's songs, including Ashley playing upright bass. Underneath would be so beautiful with string instruments!!! Outlaws of Love too!!!
