So the great news that Shoshanna tweeted about and that was going to be revealed on Monday was that she had a phone call with Nile? Shosh never said "Monday." She said "this week." So far she's had 2 exciting things. 1) NKOTB touring the UK and 2) Pharrell is performing on the Oscars  |

Interesting, in a good way, that Shosh chose to answer this tweet instead of ignoring it! I agree. Fans have been asking her about news for months. I am pleased that this is confirmation that there is something to reveal in time. Which is more than she has said in the past. |

Kinda OT but Jared Leto tweeted a link to his Tumbler site for his Artifact Project. Sorry, don't know how to bring over... His diagram explains how a typical recording contract is set up between the label and the artist. Assuming this is true, I can't imagine the frustration these artists go thru to get their music out there....back to Adam, I hope he doesn't sign with anyone until he gets the best deal possible! If this is true and no reason not to think it is, why would an established artist with a fan base even bother to get another contract. Why not distribution with a flat fee? Do their own production? Hire others to do certain work without such clauses? It really smacks of fraud to me, indentured slavery. There are many articles I've read repeating such stories. Is there a battle brewing amongst artist and labels? The new direction of music discussed, going back to real musicality, part of this? Is the reason Adam can afford to buy a house this year the result of not being with a label last year? So many questions!!!  An established artist with a fanbase (like Adam) is in a position to negotiate a reasonable deal with a label. The contracts that screw people are the ones signed my new artists and that includes the Idol contracts, particularly this current Idol-UMG deal. The Idol-Sony contract for seasons 5-9 (including Adam's) were not bad financial deals for the artists. There were relatively huge advances in these contracts. Adam is in an excellent position I think. He no longer has to deal with 19 and pay them their cut, he has proven he can sell music and get on the radio (FYE/WWFM, IIHY) and he has proven that he can sell music even when the label has not supported his music fully (Trespassing). He also has great representation and an excellent reputation as someone with a decent work ethic who wants to be successful. He is not is the position of a mega artist negotiating a deal, but he is positioned about as well as possible. I believe Adam has a label deal, and I think he already told us who it is with his clues. And I am convinced there will be an album in 2014. Finally, it appears to me that Adam and his team are lining up the promotional guns for late Feb-March promo start. My prediction remains new single late Spring (May with time for a follow-up if needed), album Fall (Oct-Nov) 2014. |
